Volkswagen Passat eHybrid Plug In 204 19KwH Discussion
Discussion
Hi All,
Have just ordered the Passat Plug In Hybrid. Attracted by the 204BHP and the 80 Mile acclaimed range.
Thought I would make a thread in case anybody else has jumped on this.
Excited to get mine, should be here in October or early November.
Has anybody got this vehicle? User Experiences?
I have also struggled to find a link to things such as mats, boot protectors, roof boxes etc.

Although I cannot comment on the Passat, I have got the same drive train in a 2025 Tiguan.
Must say I love it... First Plug-in Hybrid for me, works very, very well. I'm currently 550 miles into ownership, and of this, the petrol engine has only come in twice, when on longer runs, of over 70+ Miles.
It will happily charge 50% on an overnight (cheap rate electric for me), which you can specify within the vehicle charging section - this is running on a reduced AC current (again set within the car) to help with the home current flow through the standard 3 pin charger.
So far have managed 80 Miles on a single charge (45 Miles M1, running around town, then back up the M1 again). Whilst electric only is a little slow, feels like a 110BHP car, I'll trade that for the smooooooth and quietness of the vehicle. Immediate pull away, compared to the dropping of an automated clutch, makes it feel a little more urgent off the line.
You'll love it...

I am coming from full electric Audi Etron to this, so have a charger at home so should do 0 to 100% overnight.
I am just sweating on my current car going back in December and being promised I can delay delivery until December by lease company then them being a little unsure and now the sales guy having left the business.
There was nothing else with this spec on the market at the time, hence hitting the button don't want two car overlap for too long.

Will be no issue at all. As long as you turn off the option to reduce AC charge current (took me a while to work that one out - in the menus) - it will then charge at full 7kw, from empty to full in prob 4-5 hours daily. You can also set a home charging location to remember your preferred times/settings/charge rates, etc..jj
Yup, You can do all of this within the app. I would suggest getting the app configured first, as I configured the car, then downloaded the app a week later (to see what I was missing)..?? Then was playing with the app, and found it deleted all of the functions I had set on the car. Some you can set through the car, others through the app. I've not actually configured the steering wheel & Seat to come on yet, as just found a 'left/right' individual controls within the app, which relates to personal settings. But yes, you can heat the car I think for up to 30 mins before departure. IT did this morning, as it was a little chilly...

Looks great. How are you finding the range on electric during the cold weather? Any thoughts on upping the power of the petrol engine with a cheeky remap? I see race chips offer +30bhp and 60nm
I am getting 25-35 miles on electric at the moment. But I charge at home and don't go far often, so AC, message and heated seats are all on. Even when petrol engine kicks in it's quite economical.
My overall all is 80mpg / 4.0khw at the moment.
One issue that's annoying me is the wing mirrors keep dipping as I reverse but never return to where I had them when I go into drive.
I have had the R Line PHEV as a company car since October and coming from a 2.0 Skoda Superb I am 100% sold on electric. On my 70 odd mile round commute the ICE currently kicks in around 10 miles from home, so it's saving me a fortune in petrol as I charge on the Octopus overnight rate (I have a charger). My only issue is that it's a long old car, so I have the Tiguan R Line PHEV coming in April.
You will absolutely love driving it.

I collected mine yesterday. Registered Oct 2025 and was a demonstrator.
It's a 204bhp model, R-Line spec with the Signature Pack - main additions being the 19" alloys and leather seats amongst other things. Also has factory fit towbar.
The 19s are bigger than I'd usually opt for but I might get 18s on winter tyres and swap between. In the softest setting the suspension doesn't crash as I'd have expected.
Other benefit to the seats is they have cooling function as well as heating.
250 mile drive immediately after collecting was a breeze, looking forward to many more.

My company cars for the last ten years have been a variety of VW Passats. It was the only choice for a long time.
I have a 72 plate GTE Estate and the lease ends next month with an Elegance model due to replace it.
The GTE has been my favourite of the lot due to the drive train being much smoother then the previous Diesels and being far more economical and quicker.
Quite lookng forward to this new model. Not sure about the iPad dashboards, but the overall reviews look favourable.

£620 per year road tax? Doesn t feel right for a car with such a decent electric range!
Unfortunately so, but that's the modern way with it linked purely to list price rather than emissions or efficiency.Even more frustrating when you consider that they depreciate so quickly from new. List price of mine with extras is nudging £50k, but I paid 70% of that at only 3 months and 1000 miles old.
Saw the Black Edition on offer 2 weeks ago; so ordered a silver one which is due in just over a weeks time. Could have gone for white which also looks good…..hopefully I like the silver!
I have not even seen the car in the flesh let alone taken a test drive - hoping the 204 phev delivers! Am coming from a 3.0 TDI 286 bhp Touareg…….so will be an interesting comparison! Will be saving a few quid on the monthlies and hoping to do my commute on electric only.
Any more driving impressions on the 204 phev would be good to hear…

I've had mine a week now and covered around 350 miles. Comparisons are based on my previous Peugeot 3008 PHEV.Engine and drivetrain in the VW are massively more refined - transition between EV and ICE is unnoticeable most of the time. In the Pug, there was always a shunt as the engine took over, and the engine itself sounded coarser. Also, the 6-speed DSG is shifts quicker and smoother than the 8-speed of the Peugeot.
It pulls well, 204bhp in this seeming comparable to the 225bhp of the 3008. I'll soon be towing a caravan and am fairly comfortable it'll do that with little trouble. (But obviously nothing compared to a 3.0 diesel Touareg!)
Ride comfort is very good - I've been driving primarily with the DCC adjustable dampers in their very softest setting. It can wallow a little at slow speeds, e.g. over speed bumps but overall very comfortable. It's stiffest setting is far too stiff for any UK road, I'll never use it. But somewhere in the middle is fine for a little more control.
Overall comfort is good - highly adjustable seats. The under thigh support is something I never knew I needed. Wind and road noise is fairly hushed.
Efficiency is great. On 250 mile drive last week, leaving with full battery, I drained the battery and fuel averaged 60mpg (on-board computer value). The same journey and cruising speeds in the Peugeot would have seen high-40s mpg.
