Hi, I'm not sure is this is the right place to post this, but I'm looking for someone to help me design an EV powertrain for a personal project I'm working on. I initially just need to be sure I get the basics right, so that I know what components I'll require and, therefore, what I need to pack into the platform.

Any help or advice is much appreciated!

I've used these two commercially, whether they will look at personal projects is doubtful....

This thread might give you some ideas, someone putting a Tesla drive train into an MX5.

Hi

If you paste that into ChatGpt, it will give a pretty decent starting point.

People have hacked pretty deeply into the Nissan Leaf.
There used to be a lot of knowledge on forums and FB I think?

A proper understanding of existing designs is often a good starting point?

Thank you for the replies so far. To clarify, I’m not trying to electrify an existing vehicle. This is a car I’m designing from scratch. With the powertrain being such a vital aspect of the build, I want to get that right before proceeding too far with the aesthetics.

Les Edgar ( the owner of the TVR brand name ) commenced an electric car project.
It was a car started from scratch and now appears to have become a personal project. That appears to match your plans exactly.

His advice might be, that building motor cars is far too difficult, because his promised production dates have never been achieved.
Only a few people know if anything has been achieved.

You can meet him at a golf club in Surrey.

The DIY Electric Car Forums might be a good place to find advice and/or contacts.
