Has anyone had a chance to look around one of these yet? Looks to be a substantial step forward at a different price point to the new German tech that s landing soon.
I’ll be going through a salary sacrifice scheme in next few months and was thinking Renault Scenic (basically what I want but no 4wd) and Cupra Tavascan (not really what I m looking for but the best of the VAG offer), and I m a definite NO to Tesla. I was a bit worried about BYD not being quite there yet for some reason, but these seem just what I m looking for. Ironically I don t really care about the 750hp, but would pay extra for 4wd as live in Peak District and it can make quite a bit of difference with half decent tyres.

I test drive an IM6 a few weeks ago. It was the "Launch Edition" so it had the air suspension that the other cars don't have.
Good stuff:
Good stuff:
- Very comfortable ride on the air suspension
- Surprisingly tight turning and lower speed agility with the rear wheel steering
- Interior feels well built and comfortable and the glass roof makes it feel light inside. Very roomy.
- Ample performance
- Impressive warranty
- Massively overcomplicated middle screen, which is literally impossible to use on the move
- Lots and lots and LOTS off fiddly settings - even the sales guys couldn't work half of it out and they had had training and documentation.
- Bings and bongs every 20 seconds
- Feels big on the road and when trying to park
I looked at an IM5 about a week ago and currently waiting for a test drive.
Roomy inside and the stereo seems pretty decent, and it's very airy inside with the pano roof. (I should point out that I'm easily impressed given my current 2012 Ford Focus!).
Good points:
- Decent range
- Rear wheel steer which is apparently very good at making it feel much smaller/easy to park.
- Rain mode, which uses front camera to enhance visibility in low light conditions.
- Snow mode on Performance (i.e. AWD) version.
- Double glazing and active noise cancelling so apparently very quiet.
Bad points:
- No door handles. There's a small button you push on the doors to release them. Just seems like something else that might glitch to me.
- It's a hatchback, not a saloon, but there's no parcel shelf, so if whatever's in the boot rolls around you'll hear/smell it. It can also probably be seen quite easily, despite;
- Tiny rear window so you can't see much out the back.
Because the car's a new launch there are apparently no finance offers yet, although my local dealer will offer a decent blue light discount to NHS staff.

You say that, but they're all over Autotrader with like 5k off list. MG are apparently doing a £2k deposit contribution and around 2.5% APR on a PCP.PCH deals are here
https://www.mg.co.uk/offers-finance/personal-contr...
£440 amortized, 4 years, 6000 miles.
Which is roughly the same price as the ID7

Sat in the im5 in Cov at the weekend and can resonate other comments; seems nice. They had a 6 too but it looked awful in white. I was straight up and mentioned i would be salary leasing and they didn't want to know from there on, no test drive offered etc.
5 has a shallow boot but as its only our dog that goes in there it's not an issue....just reliability really. I'm not ordering until mid jan so have time to muse other offers.

Interesting. Maybe it's just the Glyn Hopkins group then. They also said they can't get near the salary sacrifice pricing (the Performance model is £500/month for me based on 3 yrs/7,500 miles).
It's 2.9% apparentlyhttps://www.mg.co.uk/offers-finance/personal-contr...

There are brokers offering IM5s with around £7.5k discount and IM6 with around £10k. Very keen pricing and the white interior is a no cost option.I had a seat in them at Goodwood and was impressed. The reviews are a bit odd - the Top Gear one banged on about how bad the ride is but other reviews never mentioned it being a problem at all.

I've not driven it on regular suspension, but as noted above, the air suspension is as good as any other I've driven. I don't pay too much attention to Top Gear any more.Where are you seeing 10k off an IM6?

Max I've seen on AT was 2.5K. Where are you seeing 7.5K? Carwow?I had a seat in them at Goodwood and was impressed. The reviews are a bit odd - the Top Gear one banged on about how bad the ride is but other reviews never mentioned it being a problem at all.

New Car Discount - https://www.new-car-discount.com/car/mg-motor-uk/i...Test drove the IM5 last week. Pleastantly surprised with how decent it felt to drive. Comfy seats and spacious in the back, too. The boot is a bit small and the rear window might as well not be there but overall it seems a good car.
Salary sacrifice prices are good. Even over 2yrs / 7,500 miles it comes out at £360 for a 40% taxpayer.

The IM6 certainly fixes the small boot, but both cars have a terribly small rear window. The cameras go some way to mitigating that, but I like to throw an arm over the passenger seatback when I'm reversing. Apparently the autoparking is VERY fast - quite scarily so.The salary sacrifice figures sound like a steal.
The other car I've been looking at, albeit a shade more expensive, is the BYD Sealion 7. Any thoughts on comparison between these? Also the Xpeng G6.

Not familiar with the Xpeng G6 but on my scheme (Tuskers) there's only one option, which is the Long Range (286bhp, 354 miles range). Monthly is £347 (3yrs, 7,500 miles) or an extra £7/mth if you don't want to pay for a non-white colour.
