With all the recent angst around the Tesla Model S and its lack of a future, I thought I'd simply say what a pleasure this car ('23 Tesla Model S Plaid with FSD) is to own.

Last weekend, I did a road-trip of about 2.5 hours each way. All I could think the entire trip was how nice the car is, in so many ways:

-quiet
-comfortable
-great audio system
-ample space for all my gear
-ridiculous performance when/if needed, with virtually no downside
-the car drove itself 98+% of the trip - I only took over a couple of times, and only because I wanted to, not because I needed to. The current version of FSD is spooky-good
-The car chose the charging stop, navigated directly to the Supercharger and backed in expertly, stopping in the perfect position for the charging cable
-It looks MAHvelous! (IMHO)

What a time to be a car enthusiast, and what an amazing vehicle the current Model S continues to be

The automotive market will be much the poorer when it’s gone

That is all...

Clearly somebody who's not got the memo.

You're not allowed to like Tesla because, er, um, reasons. And Elon, he's literally Hitler, and they set themselves on fire at least once a week.

I assume you're non-UK as our dated version of FSD is somewhat poor. I'd really like to try V14 to see the progress for myself.

Nice colour, is that a wrap?

LOL - correct!

Correct.

Correct, and V14.xxx is honestly amazing (from a long-time skeptic). I also wish that you lot could experience it.

Nope - just the photographer’s magic. That was on Angeles Crest Highway northeast of Los Angeles - a famous, epic road that deserves all the hype it gets.

Now, I enjoy my EV for all sorts of reasons..
And here's a well thought out view that I find I'm mostly agreeing with, from Cal of retropower.

The Model S is still the best looking Tesla.

It might be a bit bland but isn't blobby like the 3 and X. (Although the latest facelifted 3 is much better)

According to the Musk annual meeting FSD is dead and musk unlikely to get paid for it, the steady 10% of cars that can use it is not increasing (by percentage). Tesla are pivoting to Robots and discontinuing the S & X to make room for that. That leaves the 3 and Y for now with Tesla going full self-drive and no steering wheel needed. Based on the progress of RoboTaxi this is a long term view to say the least. In summary it seams Tesla are pissing their lead away with more Musk bs.

ignoring his 'ultra' right wing ideology and public support for the AfD in Germany (neo nazi party) being on the pedo island list over 1000 times is more than a bit sus

The majority of his wealth comes from his Tesla stock value, by buying new or used you are propping up the share price, if everyone dumped the cars so they literally had no value the share price would collapse and wipe out a lot of his money.

He knows this which is why he's pushing hard to float space x and coming out with his usual vapourware of building a city on the moon in the next 10 years, eggs and one basket and all that

Of course its hard to be a moral crusader when money is tight and used Teslas offer value, which is a shame

Most people buy a car because it suits their requirements - I doubt too many worry too much about the politics, sexual preferences, etc, of the owner/CEO.

And a used Tesla doesn't just offer value in terms of purchase price, it also offers an EV ownership experience which by all accounts is at least as good or better than most other EV's. Therefore, while I don't own one personally, I can understand why others do and I don't automatically think badly of them because of Musk (even though I don't really care for the bloke).

It’s a shame that people can’t seem to simply appreciate the car for what it is…

It’s a marvel, and I very much do.

That is truly all.

This is SO FAR from my point of view on the topic of my EVs that it may as well be from an alternate universe, but thanks for sharing nonetheless…

How dare you come on here with an actual, real world opinion on an EV you've driven extensively. That's not how we do things on here.

I was really hoping they would bring the Model S Plaid in RHD to the UK, really disappointed it never came and now scrapped entirely. Lovely car, great pic, genuinely jealous - would have been the perfect every day useable supercar.
