10m granny charger with 6/8 amps and temp sensing in plug

I'm trying to find a 10‑metre granny charger that offers selectable 6/8‑amp settings and has temperature sensing in the plug. Tough Leads make one with temperature protection, but it doesn’t seem to have adjustable amperage. The Masterplug version on Amazon/Argos does have selectable amps, but I’ve seen photos of the plugs overheating. Is there a manufacturer that offers both features in a single unit?

The cable if coiled will heat up and can catch fire also, either solution has the same potential issues as neither protect the cable. One of these does the switchable amperage, and has thermal sensing in the box

Thanks. The Masterplug was already on my radar, but I’ve seen a few reports of burnt plugs, which put me off. Annoyingly, I nearly bought it back in December when the 10 m version was £103, but I still had six months left with my old car. Not long after, I got rid of it and of course the new one didn’t come with a granny charger.
After reading up a bit more, I really want to minimise the risk of any issues, so I’m specifically looking for something with a 6 A setting and a plug‑temperature sensor

Surely at 6A there is no need for any temperature sensing in the plug.The problem only comes when you are drawing high currents for extended time.
(Where 'high' is relative to the plug/socket rating i.e. 13A in this case).
Just fit a quality 13A outlet.

After 7 years of granny charging various EV's most nights this is is my experience.
If you run the charger at 6/8 amps any heat at the plug is barely noticeable. I've only seen any worrying heat build up running at 13 amps, although 10 can also get a bit warm during the hotter parts of the summer.
Thanks again. I’ve been using the standard granny chargers that came with the cars for a few years, which I assume are 10‑amp units. I bought what was considered a decent 13‑amp extension lead from Screwfix and always made sure it was fully uncoiled. When I handed the last charger back, I noticed some damage to the socket, most likely heat‑related.
In the past my wife had a Zoe, which could be on charge for around 24 hours at times. Personally, I’ve only had PHEVs and they usually take about four hours to fully charge. I’ve now got a Passat with a 19/20 kWh battery, so I’m looking at roughly eight hours on a granny charger.
Ideally, I don’t want to use an extension lead at all, although the ones from Tough Leads look well‑made, and the jump from 5 m to 10m for a granny charger isn’t a huge price difference. I’ve also noticed the different IP ratings: IP65, IP66, IP67 and I’m not entirely sure which is best. From what I’ve read, IP66 seems the most appropriate.

Type 2 connectors are usually IP44 and 13A mains plugs something like IP22?
But you know not to leave those bits out in the weather.

You mean like this review of the product. Such a long cable seams like a nightmare to me.

I guess you are more concerned about its 'managability'... it doesn't need to be as heavy as a 'proper' 32A type 2 cable though as it only needs to pass 13A.Useful review info though... hopefully the OP can update us with his findings.
The box will be in my garage off the ground. Hopefully the bit that connects to the car is watertight, if not Amazon will be getting a return. TBF I'd rather it just stopped working vs the several 1 start melted plug reviews for the masterplug one.
