Hi. Getting a new company car on lease - EV because of BIK.

Help! I’ve shortlisted based on monthly rental but now can’t decide. I generally lean towards the P3 or AMG 53.

- Polestar 3 Perf with Nappa (2026 500KW model)
- Mercedes EQE AMG 53
- Mercedes EQE 500 with Luxury Pack
- I5 eDr40 M Sport Pro with Tech+/Comf+ Packs
- iX xDrive45 M Sport with Tech/Pro

Coming from an i4 M50. We also have a KIA EV9 as main family car.

Any help appreciated.

Nice problem to have!

Personally it would be the PS 3.

Is the Model Y Performance in grade?

Decide what your priorities are (range, performance, practicality, comfort) and then get some test drives would be my advice.

I've personally always found the interiors on Polestars a bit disappointing, and I believe they do still struggle with software issues.

The EQE 53 should be the most fun to drive on the list and offers decent range, with an EV9 at home I imagine practicality is a lower priority?

I've spent 18 months in an i5 40.

+ very comfortable and quiet on motorwasy
+ tech is pretty good but screen interface with apps is confusing
+ charges quickly

- range is poor for the vehicle cost. max 300m in summer, usually 240m in winter
- cost saving inside is disapointing
- no front boot for cables (cost saving again)
- it's not sporty, no matter what they call it.....

Depending on what you are using it for it's a very big car and a pain for town / parking.

Not wishing to get into the politics of it but wouldn’t get approval from the boss at home for a Tesla.

I hear and read some great stuff about the PS3. Thanks for taking time to give me a steer.

Thanks for helping out.

Priorities are interior / seat comfort, refinement and ride quality. I do like having something that has decent performance when needed and I am a bit of a tech nerd. When I use the car it’s typically for long trips to the office.

I believe the PS3 has a high quality interior but is on sparse side vs the EQE which looks more conventional however, perceived quality a little lower. The element that makes me nervous about PS3, are the horror stories that seem to dominate forums (I do get that you only hear the bad stuff and the new 800v architecture might address issues).

Thanks for the balanced perspective. It’s the lack of sportiness that probably puts me off alongside the interior spec. I was in the previous gen 5 series at the weekend and that does feel much better than the i5 for fit and finish.

I find all the German's have lost their luxury touch these days and all their cars feel £20k cheaper than their list prices. My jaw hit the floor when my friend told me his Q6 list price was knocking on £80k. It felt no more special than an A4 inside. Mercedes and their insistence on huge screens and endless cheap looking lighting options makes it feel like you're stepping into a Temu knock off version in my opinion. BMW are the best of the bunch but I'm still not a fan of their general design language these days.

My friend has recently got a Polestar 4 and it actually felt like a big jump up on the others and a premium car to me. He has done a few thousand in it now and other than public charger problems (not the car's fault) he has had no issues at all and really enjoys it. He upgraded from a 330e estate. Both as company cars of course which makes them hilariously cheap to own.

The i5 40 will feel too much like your M50 - except it'll feel like it's missing a couple of hundred horsepower, because it is! I think that would feel disappointing...

The IX on the other hand is VERY good all round car, providing you can learn to never look at the front of it.

But overall, the P3 is probably best smile

That is really helpful! That’s the i5 struck off the list.

You wouldn't choose one over the 3 performance, not since the upgrades to the 3...

And I'm guessing it's not on the list since the OP didn't mention it smile

I'm intrigued... why would you choose the 4 over the 3?

Specifically in this instance given that any car chosen by the OP is near as damn it the same cost due to the super low BIK rate and income tax savings. Obviously if handing over cash for either car, the fact the 4 is about £20k cheaper would be a factor...
