Renault Megane E-Tech - real-world range check

I bought a used (72 plate) Megane e-tech (60kWh battery) several months ago and have only ever managed to get a full battery range estimate of around 160 miles - yes that's been mainly during cold weather, it has 20" wheels and the car tends to only do short daily trips, but this seems really low (compared to the official range). So I'm just interested in seeing what anyone else might be getting from their Megane e-tech? Any insights or comparisons would be much appreciated.

160 miles from 60kw battery is 2.6 miles per Kw, which is about right for winter usage as you'll be using a load of energy warming the car up on short journeys.

Does the Renault interface show a breakdown of power usage. (On my EV often you see upto 40% of power being used for heat/accessories when it is cold)

The Meganes do not have a heatpump so will take a bigger hit in winter.

Not true. The early models didn't but they quickly rectified that and later models in higher trim do (OP's is a '72 plate so fairly early and I would guess it didn't come with one).

In summer mine (with a heat pump) has an estimated range of about 220-230 miles at 100%, the furthest I've driven in one go is about 170 miles and it still had about 20% remaining. In winter it drops to 180-190 miles estimated range.

Supposedly the heat pump improves efficiency by up to 9%, I would assume worst case one without would get close to 200 miles range in the summer.

That seems low to me. My ID3, so a similar size etc averaged 3.7m/kWh over the 53k miles I did in it from new in Sep 23 till it went back at the beginning of this month. A good chunk of that was motorway mileage too, cruising at 80mph. It was only on 18s, but still, that’s quite a difference

Looks low relative to EV Database estimates, which are usually pretty accurate. They suggest 195 miles in winter mixed driving.

But if you are doing lots of short trips starting from cold each time then it will be much lower than a single trip of the same type of driving.

Yeah, perhaps I'm mixing up some of my figures, summer was a long time ago and I rarely charge it past 80% as most of my journeys are short

It's averaging 3.7m/kWh since I picked it up from new last June over about 6000 miles, but most of that is 5 miles each way for my commute with only a handful of longer / motorway trips.
