Golf Mk8 Home Charging
Discussion
Picking up a 3 year old GTE from a VW dealer tomorrow.
I need to get an outside plug installed. It could not be easier as the plug will be within 1m of the incoming supply on the outer wall, and DB board on the inner (garage) wall.
Given the GTE only charges at a maximum 3.6kw, should I just get the spark to run a new circuit with its own protection and rated external plug? I get then used the supplied VW 3-pin lead which I think is limited to 10 amps / 2.6kw?
A proper 7kw EV charger is looking like £700 to install. I don’t need fancy charging schedules. Just plug it in overnight and let the car decide what it wants.
It’s what’s better for the longevity of the battery.
