With the new job at a well know UK EV hypercar manufacturer on a couple of week from starting, it look's like I've bought a daft commuter vehicle.

We have a Tesla Model3 for the mundane commutte, a Boxster for when the weather is nice, so I thought I'd buy another commuter tool, for "all other occasions"

I've been planning a subtle wrap for it too, with some AI assistance.

Excellent!

Used to be a restaurant near me that used one a Twizzy as a delivery car. Looked ideal for zipping around the city. Haven't seen one in a long time now.

Oooooooh. I look at these now and then...questions!
  • Did you buy one with a bought battery, or are there some that still have the lease nonsense?
  • Can you "chip" it? Or rather are you going to? I believe there are units out there that increase top speed and oomph.
  • I think you can also get bigger batteries?
  • Can you let us know how much it cost smile
  • How are you finding the handling?
My commute is c. 24 miles a day, and much of it is B-roads. I'm regularly thinking these might be a hoot...though the last time I looked the battery position was far from clear.

What wrap are you thinking? I reckon a JPS, or possibly some older school Renault F1 colours (Alonso or Jabouille) could look brilliant smile

Owned battery, at some point it's get the upgrade that gives 100miles range.

I have a Twizy "Powerbox" on order, you can do many things with it, including upping the torque by 88%.

£3250 after a bit of haggling

It's not here yet, but from memory (Renault loan me one for a week way back), the handling is best described as "entertaining"

As for the wrap.....AI helped me come up with this

clapclap fantastic fun!

I'm intrigued by the "UK EV hypercar manufacturer" - Lotus use the "hypercar" reference and are UK based albeit Geely.....

Nice!

Also loving the irony of the colour scheme to PP's point.

A 100 mile battery and the powerbox would be ideal.

Please post up how you go.

(Do you have the doors with windows?)

Brilliant, i keep looking at these for my 8 mile commute but as my very small garage is filled with an mx5 i dont know where i'd keep it in winter.

The counter to this is an i3 which does so much more for not much more money, albeit it wont have the fun factor.

Take my money now! Unfortunately this would not pass our strict ADR rules here in Australia! Love it though!

Doors yes, windows no, but I'll keep an eye out for a second hand set

^Fantasic purchase, probably the most interesting EV around.

I considered getting one but the the hassle of insurance and wanting some exercise meant I've stuck with eBikes. If my future commuting needs changes to a longer distance eBikes cannot cover I'll seriously consider one. Parking would be hallirous compared to the 5m long 2m wide family EV wagon.

^You cannot really use that for commuting and it no easier to park than a normal car. In France we saw quite a few of these, very similar principles. When I did the final analysis on something like these mini EV versus the eBike for commuting, the eBike still comes out on top. No matter how small the car, the eBike is still far easier to park, let's you hop off the road and take a route straight through the park versus being forced to stay on paved roads, and every car no matter now small is still stuck in the same traffic jam that really has no impact on pedal bikes. You also have zero worries about insurance, VED etc on a pedal bike.

They are all really interesting EVs though, far more so than the ridiculous EV I currently drive and the one I've ordered to replace it. But human nature is an odd thing, if I'm going to be stuck in a traffic jam regardless I rather sit there in comfort/surround by a massive metal box rather than a tiny tin flanked by monster sizes SUVs.

We bought my wife a Fiat Topolino about a year ago, which is essentially the exact same care as the Citreon Ami and the Opel Rocks-e. Her commute is only about a mile, and she has a reserved parking spot, so it has been little/no hassle. She drove it all winter, then transitions to a Vespa when the weather is more ammenable.

I am not familiar with the laws in France, but I think these come under 'voitures sans permis' which I think means you can drive them from 14 years old without a licence. You can probably drive them if you've lost your licence too.
