In my town centre there is a patch of land which would be ideal to put a few rapid chargers on. It has been vacant for years. The town has no other rapid chargers and it might bring a few visitors to the town centre.

Is there any way to submit the suggestion to charger companies?

I suspect most charger firms have something similar => https://be-ev.co.uk/site-owners-partners/

But probably not much use speaking with them if you aren't the owner of the land.

I think you will find that it is the local grid capacity that decides where chargers go. I have seen a bank of rapids wait more than 2 years for a connection after installation. But then again that was BP Pulse and the chargers have worked little better after they were connected.

One for the 'low key conspiracies' sub-reddit, I think that BP and Shell deliberately make their chargers unreliable so that ICE drivers keep seeing the 'out of order' signs when they fill up so less likely to buy an EV. smile

I am not one for conspiracies but I absolutely believe that. Add to that encouraging the petrol station staff to use the charging bays for their own and delivery parking, closing the bays for half a day whenever a tanker delivery is due. Not giving the station staff any training or information on the chargers, they seem to be trained to say, 'nothing to do with is mate'.

After more enquiries, I have discovered that a petrol station used to be on the land and the storage tanks are still in the ground making it unsuitable for any kind of development without significant investment to remove the tanks, decontaminate and fill the holes.

What a waste.
