Hey,

We've just ordered our first EV (BYD Atto 3 Evo Excellence) and need to get a home charger installed. Will be using Intelligent Octopus Go tariff most likely. We don't have solar/batteries currently, but are planning on getting some installed in the near future. I was looking at the Ohme ePod, but just read that it isn't compatible with batteries, just solar. The Hypervolt is compatible with both solar and batteries, but is tethered. We need untethered as I don't want a post in the driveway, and the closest point on the house to where the car can be parked is about 12m.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a charge point that fits the above?

You can generally do the settings or schedule to avoid draining the home battery into the car. For example I always set the car to be ready by 5:30am which is the same time that the home battery stops charging. (Octopus IOG tariff and MyEnergi Zappi charger)

So when it says it isn't compatible with batteries, what does that actually mean? It won't charge from the batteries? I hadn't thought about battery sizes, I'm not clued up on those systems either, but assumed that if the batteries were full and solar was good, I'd be able to charge from the batteries/solar during the day for free basically?
