Fuel near Calais terminal

Do you have a sat-nav with live updates ? My TomTom has the option to find cheap fuel prices in France (and other bits of Europe) so we've just found the nearest one and followed that.
Also depends if you're coming in via Eurotunnel or ferry as it's easier to get to cheap fuel from the ferry than it is the Eurotunnel.
Finally, have a look at this site:

Feed it the name of the town and the type of fuel and it will give you the prices and you can click on the details to get maps, etc.
There is a Carrefour at Cite Europe but it always feels like a long way out of the way to get to that one so my preference is either the Leclerc in Boulogne or Auchan in Boulogne which is closer to Calais if you are cutting it fine - both are generally about the same price I think.
If you are on a ferry there are a couple of BP stations on the final section in Dover but they are not cheap. Slightly better is the Tesco at junction 10 on the M20, but even that doesn't seem cheap sometimes.

and please don't take this the wrong way......
Normally, the LM forum is all about speed, fast cars, traffic fines, expensive stickers, black-ops, lunches, beer mountains and general malarkey...you come along asking about saving a few cents on diesel.
Top man for reminding us this is 2011 and putting our feet firmly back on the ground even if like me, most folk are happy to escape it all for a few days.

We always use this one. Only just off the motorway plus my dad likes to avoid the bridge across the viaduct.

+1There is also, if memory serves me correctly, a Tesco superstore off that same roundabout, or one close by. We've stopped there before now on the way to the ferry.

Not absolutely everywhere, but much more than they used to. Credit cards still tend to be more accepted than debit cards - I have had a few places not accept my Visa Debit card on recent trips, but Mastercard credit card worked. Fortunately, if all else fails I do have a French bank account so the card for that is very helpful!andyps said:

There is one very close to J10 on the M20 but even that seems pretty expensive compared to others - maybe it is Kent which is expensive for petrol?

how much will you save not filling up at dover where there are no problems ???? you will be lucky to save £1.25 on a tank full
if you fill up on the French motorways you will be paying more than uk prices
i fill up at pompy then at carefour supermarket in le mans
we try to cross pompy- le havre to limit mileage and time, fuel used and tolls.
however if you head to calais by turning right into old town (most sat navs drop you onto new road) there is a super market a couple of miles in ..big sign on side of buildings
