For the radio I just bought a cheapo £2 Tesco Value (less my 10% staff discount for added cheapness 
). Two buttons and a volume control, no screen. The Caterham of the pocket radio world.
I'll plug in my Shure earphones rather than the crappy supplied ones so that some background noise is cancelled out.

Radio - Peltor ear defender / built in radio. Best thing I have bought for le mans. No wires, great reception, comfortable.
Get the noise cancelling ones and you can hold a normal conversation, but it blocks the worst of the noise.
When at track side, a bit of noise sans ear defenders is good, but for 24hrs it is nice to have some protection.
Also, just seen... andrex 'on the go' toilet roll. It comes in a resealable bag and basically it is a toilet roll without the tube. Really compact. Perfect for the track but not at cumbersome as a normal toilet roll. Was in Boots.

Canned curries are surprisingly good from Waitrose or Tesco, and whole lot better than the gristle kebabs from the burger vans.
Also cereal bars are a decent shout for breakfast since they don't require milk and therefore don't require a fridge (if you can't live on curry or bread and beer all week).
As for radios, any will do really. The Peltor jobbies look very impressive but they are also very big and bulky. I bet you'd get much the same effect with any decent personal radio, and a pair of Griffin Earthumps or similar headphones - for less than £20. I think the Peltor headphones are closer to £100 and they do have the unfortunate side effect of making you look like a bit of a numpty.

Dunno model number, but the one I have is the 'alert fm radio worktunes'.
Also got a model they did called racetunes. Much the same but without the noise cancelling.
Some people might think they look daft, but personally I think they are great.
Did the old ear phones within ear defenders and it was really uncomfortable and a pain in the arse with the wires.
Without ear defenders you struggle to hear the radio commentary.
