What's Your Le Mans Training Regime
Discussion
With just over 2 weeks to go the East Kent mob are preparing for the regular trip and our normal Le Mans training program has started. We are Le Mans athletes so we want to make sure we are in peak condition, the following program has been put in place:
Red sausage eating - we have sourced a range of red sausages (from around the world) which are cooked in a variety of methods. We hope it will enhance our gastric tolerance
Alcoholic endurance training - We have concentrated on variance not quantity. Mainly beers and red wine from around France.
Aural capacity - Friend has been revving Aston Martin during our normal pub visits for appreciation training. Not sure it compares with race LMP 1 but who cares.
The rest we will make up as we go. What's your preparation?

mine is going quite well.
Already been on the beer. Just need to add in a bit more whisky as that is usually a shock to the system.
I've been alternating between sleeping in the car and the garden over the last few days with my ipod at full volume. We do have a tent for Le Mans but I may be a bit tipsy to find it and my old man snores like an animal. It will be outside for me.

Have been gradually building up the alcohol intake over the past months, two day session last weekend, final training will be Lincoln Beer Festival (this Thurs - Sat), after which I will taper down the training ready for the arrival at Le Mans on the Wednesday.
Where's that being held? I'm on doddington park, might have to make a visit.RonJohnson said:
Drill Hall, just off Silver Street in the centre of town. A couple of us going to Le Mans will be there for practice. PM me if you fancy a pre-trip meet up for a beer or two.
Mmmmmm, I wonder if I dare ask for the obligatory pass out from SWMBO to get me away from Gainsborough area for another day of pre event training?I like to prepare by starting any car prep later than I intended, then find something broken which Audi tells me helpfully is NLA and I spend the next few days/weeks frantically scouring ebay/breakers and other contacts for a replacement.
Throw in 50+hr weeks and by the time LM comes, I'm usually quite handy at doing most things in half light or by torch

This is what I have been sending to my friends
"If you're planning to go to Le Mans, I propose a little training one year in advance ....
For the race weekend in 2011, I propose the following:
Accommodation: Sleeping in a tent in the garden for four days.
Hygiene: No personal wash allowed - nothing more than brushing your teeth.
Seating: Uncomfortable garden chairs for six hours at a time while you drink large amounts of tepid beer, preferably until you fall over.
Race: Big screen in an awning with Radio Lemans streaming over loudspeakers in the garden.
Toilets: Use a nearby forest or the local park as a toilet.
Catering: You must prepare your own BBQ meals ... at least two per day ... Breakfast consists of leftovers from supper which has not been in the fridge overnight.
Exercise is very important: You need to walk so much that it feels as if your legs are about to fall off ...."
can't wait...
