Anyone else going in a shed?

Hope we don't look too out of place - me and my other half are going in her car this year - a rover coupe we picked up for 800 notes about 4 years ago! It managed a europe road trip, doing a flawless 5k miles, talking in the ring, several swiss passes, and route napoleon, so somehow we felt it was the right car to go to le mans in.

We will of course, give the old girl some stickering up. (the car, not my other half..)


Anyone else going in their shed this year? whats your chariot of choice?

Mondeo TDCI Estate! Although thats an upgrade to previous years when its been a 1989 Volvo 740GLE Estate and last year a 1988 Volvo 740GL Saloon, complete with domestic fridge in the rear of the saloon

There is a whole crowd of us this year who have decided to do an "economy run". Rather than taking the Porsches my friend and I have decided to take his runarround N reg Escort estate - Maybe we are taking the economy idea a bit too far?

Taking '93 Jeep Cherokee, certainly not an economy drive with a 4l V6 petrol but it does have a lovely 'National Lampoon' look to it.

Is a 98 156 v6 a shed? If so then yes. 2 years ago I drove an 87 528i , sheds show that you love cars whatever the value!

did think about taking a yellow Fiat Seicento Sporting Abarth as it is without doubt the slowest car I have ever driven, not sure how long it would take to get to Le Mans but think we'd better set off at least a couple of days earlier.......

Not so much a shed story as a slow journey tale.Two years ago, we went down in my Morgan ( Not a shed) and everything went fine. Stopped for a pee on the way back and after that engine kept going into 'limp home' mode. Just caught the ferry and then had horrendous night drive from Portsmouth back to South Wales.

Next day, we checked all the obvious potential problems but nothing.
Eventually, we traced the fault. We'd been staying at the Arbor and the car park there is, of course, surrounded by grass and trees. A field mouse had crawled into the air intake, started to eat the filter element and bits of element ( and mouse) had clogged the MAF sensor!!

I would have said No Way!!, but after failing my MOT due to serious rust issues I have to agree. Clock is now ticking to get her fixed up!

Went 2 yrs ago in a 98 mondeo ghia x. Had a great drive and never missed a beat. Even impressed a few peeps out side houx with some big fat number 11's. They paid me no attention with the Fix Or Repair Daily badge. Then I reved her up and droped the clutch, dont think they noticed the V6 badge on the side. The 24v v6 in that year mondeo was a great engine and was still full if life. Not the fanciest car i've taken to le mans but it earnt a lot of respect from me and my tribe. It took 4 of us, most camping equipt for 8, a fridge and roof box. Best of all we managed an incredible 32mpg. Not bad for an old v6 carrying its own body weight in passengers and gear.
Lota love for that car :-)

Surely it was more economical the year you travelled to a Le Mans and home again courtesy of Britania Rescue.

One of my abiding memories of going to Le Mans was going down the hill around Rouen a few years back and being overtaken by a bloke in an old Robin Reliant with 'le Mans or bust' on the back. Never forget it - class.
