Video: A Day In The Life Of An Audi Driver

Audi gets us all giddy at the prospect of Le Mans

With only a little more than a fortnight to go to the Le Mans 24 hours, the build-up to the annual pilgrimage to La Sarthe is beginning in earnest.

The latest thing to get us all worked up in the PH office is this unbelievably slick promo video (also available in 3D, we hear) from Audi, with Brit Audi star Allan McNish explaining just how tough motoring's most famous endurance race is.

We honestly can't wait.

"One race, one day, one season, one winner," says Mr McNish at the end of the video. With the amount that Audi must be spending on its 2011 Le Mans assault (not to mention this video), the folks in Ingolstadt must be fervently hoping that said winner will be wearing a four-ring badge come 3pm on Sunday 12th June...

Fantastic video, and Nishy is a proper legend. Scotland's best racing driver since Jackie Stewart, without question.

Its just a pity he's promoting a diesel Audi.

It demonstrates the lateral cornering forces he experiences - try lying on your side and putting two bags of sugar on your head - over your ear - now rotate your head up and down. It gets tough pretty quick.

Very cool video. Why don't they use some form of lateral neck support? Maybe I could invent something idea

Personally I think this is rubbish & to think Audi will waste their money running it as a 2.5 minute ad in the champions league final

Why do you think it's rubbish? Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but you gave no reason for it, so I'm just curious. Most people have no idea what's involved driving properly on track, let alone in a LMP1 car. I thought it did a good job of expressing how intense the experience is to the layman.

If it was just a piece of content then fine but they are launching it as an TV ad and I dont think the majority of people will care (Le Mans does not have the same appeal as F1 to the wider population) and if you are already a fan of motor racing then does it really tell you much you didnt know. Plus it seem to be written by a 5 year old "Le Mans is a 24 hour race, all day. all night." wow.

It's quite an inciteful video, but a just before 2 mins, all I could think of as I saw the graphics behinds him was "oh no, he's dropped one".

I do wonder about the targeting of this video as it's too condescending for those who know about Le Mans and too irrelevant to those who don't. Presumably it's all been researched and Audi is happy to run it as a general brand-building exercise rather than as a proactive sales tool.

Not sure on that, I know LM and I love this video. It contains some facts that I didn't know if I'm honest.
