Noobie advice - which route?

Hi guys,
We're on the Eurotunnel, taying in houx.
My first guess is:
A16 south to Abbeville
A28 southwest to yvetot
D131e / D131 south to malnevier
D490 south to Cavemount
D913 south to Bourg Acard
A28 south to the end
TBH, I have no clue as to a decent route after that! I'm guessing signed, or maybe, if I'm lucky sat nav will save me (I don't trust it in England, in Foreign bet it's even worse).. Is the plan to avoid Rouen a good one, or daft?
On the way back, is there a cunning route to escape? Will be leaving mon AM for Mon PM tunnel. I have read that the trick is to escape the A28 early at J13, then was wondering - is it better to go via Yvetot again, or is Rouen better?

To be honest I've never had a problem with Rouen, infact if using a SatNav that will get you to LeMans OKAt LeMans the signs to what Parking/Camping your in is good, follow the Blue Green Red or White directions

Never had a problem with Rouen either, like anywhere foreign, have a map/know your route and keep your eyes peeled. I used TomTom before, and it got me to the gate of the campsite ok.At LeMans the signs to what Parking/Camping your in is good, follow the Blue Green Red or White directions
Also, you could follow all the British registered cars - especially if stickered up, they might be headed to LM too;)

On the way down Rouen can be a little tricky and sometimes quite busy when going pass the railiway/industrial area but as previous posts say . follow some other Brit cars + use sat nav and hopefully you shouldn't go wrong. If I remember rightly there is a quick right turn off the main Rouen road to Leams so keep you eyes peeled. We're on the Eurotunnel, taying in houx.

On the way home , the quickest but not neccessary the most enjoyable way is the toll from Lemans towards Alencon , then follow the signs for Rouen , then signs for calais . Keep your speed legal as the police have party time on the Monday with GB plate cars.
If you have a sat nav you'll have no probs through Rouen. I've only had a problem when trying to navigate the place on road signs alone 
On the journey back avoid the motorway and go the along the old route which is now labelled D338/448 and all the local french people line the roads to watch the UK cars returning so expect lots of hooting and waving at locals to keep them happy. There's even some stealthy water pistol action through some of the towns and villages which can by highly amusing.
As mentioned just make sure you stick to speed limits, especially in the towns and villages as plod are usually out in force...

They have recently been doing road works on the A28 stretch towards Rouen just past the A29 Le Havre turn off. So heading down the A29 route via Yvetot virtually guarantees no hold ups , also there is a huge Carrefour hypermarket on the south side of the town.If you are in time for lunch a good place to stop is Caudebec on the banks of the Seine.
Alternatively take the A29 Le Havre route but then go into Rouen via the A151/A150, just follow the 'Toutes Directions ' signs , this will take you over a new bridge and then link in with the A13 , then pick up the A28 , its slightly longer but no traffic lights and as of last week no road works.
However if you want a nice back route, at Rouen head towards Evreux, take the A154/n154,then N12 to Mortagne via Verneuil then take the D938/D301 via Belleme and Bonnetable, shorter and only a 2 euro toll south of Rouen.

What crossing are you on? Pretty much guaranteed to be others on it who have done the trip before and will be happy for you to tag along.....
I'm on the 10.20 Thursday morning, first time driving since 2004 and that was a through the night job via Paris??????

Those roadworks have been completed now.Rouen is no problem if you follow the LE MANS signs, but it can get congested at peak times - 7.30-9.00am and 4.30-6.30pm, particularly Friday afternoons
It's worth noting that Monday 13 June is a public holiday in France, so there is a ban on HGVs over 7.5 tonnes from 10.00pm Saturday 11 to 00.00am Tuesday 14 June, - should make life easier on the motorways that Monday.

it all started a long time ago...
There's somewhere - it may well be Rouen - where my sat nav always goes a little crazy. It's clearly signposted along the autoroute, but on both occasions I've done it I've stupidly followed the sat nav rather than the signs and ended up doing a magical mystery tour of the back streets. The detour (I think it's the same place) is even further on the way back. This year I'll remember to ignore the TomTom for that section.
On the whole I'd just follow the sat nav, but if it says anything completely illogical while you're still on the main motorway part of the route I'd follow your instincts/signs instead!
