Let's hear your "I got nicked speeding" stories

Anyone get caught by the radar on the dual carriageway just north of Alencon on Friday morning? Was a signifigant operation as at the end of the presumably plod-operated radar gun on the dual, there were about 6 gendarmes on bikes and 2 vans in a side road waving in offenders! I copped for 90 euros for doing 143 (90mph) in the 110 (70mph)zone in yellow Elise...first time in 14 visits to Le Mans so not a bad average cost I suppose! Had just put a spurt on to get ahead of a green e-type and red 3.8S Jags; whilst being booked in came a red Renault V6 GTA and blue Golf(?) supposedly doing exactly the same speed....the gendarmes had the speeds written in ink on the backs of their hands and were receiving calls relating to the colour of the offenders cars on their radios! The 3 or 4 black Porsches travelling in convoy with them seemed to escape as presumably couldn't be differentiated!
Ah well...didn't spoil a great weekend tho.....

On the Thursday they had a bike outside Baie de Somme services and 2 guys at the services writing tickets.
While i was there they tugged and fined an 11 reg. disco owner.
On the way back there was a sneaky guy half way down a hill before Gace on the A28.
Everyone seem to be behaving this year. Those making progress were keeping it in the €90 category.
The rain may have contributed as I was never sure if it was a 110 or a 130 on the way up!

Indeed - only really one car of any note which went past us 'enthusiastically', but still not silly quick.We cruised up at around 140kph all the way and from the time we left Houx this morning to the time we arrived at the Eurotunnel we did it in near as damn it 4 hours. That included a lap of the circuit and a stop for coffee and buns !
Slowed down in the rain and we went out to the west of Rouen to avoid any traffic and had a really very pleasant drive all the way.
Only spotted the one police speed trap on the road between Rouen and Abbeville, other than that they were notable by their absence for the most part (there were a few standing around at the peage booths at Abbeville).

The farm house track where Le Plod pulled you into is a regular spot. Plenty of our group have been pulled there before. We saw an F40 get taken off the owner one year. This trip we had seven cars all doing under the limit knowing this was bound to be a popular spot (single lane leading into dual carriage way - say no more). 90 euro fines for these guys also. The blue car was an R32. I was right behind the Golf and saw you come past us when parked up waiting for them to catch up. This was a case of genuine profiteering as the cars in front were at the same speed.... At least the French got beat on the track.

We all (12 cars) made it down unscathed unless there is anything on its way via post ?

then disaster, 20 km before the Aire du somme on the peage to Calais one of our group decided to give his Esprit a quick blast, cost him 1000 euros !!

Caught doing 157kph on a 90kph road. Had to pay Euro1300 cash on the spot fine (thank god I had 9 mates with me that could help out), had licence taken away....and then the rozzers took the car and handed over a notice to attend a hearing on 16 September.
Very aware that the French are taking a strict line and I risk having the car confiscated where the speed is in excess of 50kph of the limit.
Happy to take my medicine, but we had been deliberately minding ourselves and it is sods law that I am the front car of 5 when deciding to overtake a lorry that we had been following for ages....right into the path of the speed trap. Great timing, but there you go.
In short, I need legal representation and a translator to help me in Argentan. Any advice/contacts appreciated.

Very aware that the French are taking a strict line and I risk having the car confiscated where the speed is in excess of 50kph of the limit.
Happy to take my medicine, but we had been deliberately minding ourselves and it is sods law that I am the front car of 5 when deciding to overtake a lorry that we had been following for ages....right into the path of the speed trap. Great timing, but there you go.
In short, I need legal representation and a translator to help me in Argentan. Any advice/contacts appreciated.

we had no problems, but thin ww were too early for gendarmes as went on tuesday. Apparently was bad on thursday .
mate got done 158kpm on way back sunday on motorway, 90 euro fine. But he also got interviewed by Paris FM when he got nicked.....lol
we saw nothing today on way back.
we were good boys as no way we want a speeding tcket to double the cost of the week away.

I got caught about 40 miles from Le Manns going back to ferry in a Gulf Blue and Orange painted 007 Aston Martin racing an Audi R8 lucky bugger got away i did pass him at 140mph but got fined 90 euro police decent not like condescending morons in UK, soon back on my way trying to catch an earlier ferry.

Don't get a lawyer - there's no need, if he did it apologise, take it on the chin and move on...if he didn't do it he doesn't have a leg to stand on the courts always take the word of the Gendarmes anyway.
Don't need to get a translator the court will provide one.
It's stressful and an alien environment but he is in a process, just have to work it through it's only 67 kph over the limit not a big deal really he'll probably get his car back and a 10% discount on the fine as it's already paid.

I know what the French are like regarding speeding etc so kept at the limits (well maybe just a tadge over)

got pinched doing 155kph on a 100kph bit of dual carriageway just north of Alencon (I think). 90 Euros.
I was scanning the countryside and I didn't spot anything!! where were they hiding?
Well, later on the journey gave me some Idea. I saw something moving in the tall grass at the side of the road about 30 miles further on, it turned out to be a copper dressed in full camouflage gear with his little hand held radar gun tucked in as close to himself as possible! Didn't get me coz I'd learnt my lesson at that point and all 6 of our cars were doing the speed limit at that point.

The funny bit to the story is Thursday night I kept telling my mate we must not speed, we must not drink, in fact we can't even fart without getting a fine, Then I go and get nicked first thing Friday morning
Moral to story, listen to your own advice
