Campsite feedback

Guys - be interested to know which campsites you stayed on and what you thought of them ?

Its 3 years since I have been and want to plan for next year as early as possible so any feedback would be useful

Airtrack

Close to the Village - 2 minutes walk to the Champagne tent
Good site with good quality loo's and showers (showers are hot and cleaned before you go in............every time!, although due to numbers they could do with a few more just to be safe)
Good sized bar with food and projection TV
Good friendly bunch of people/management

More expensive than most, but worth every penny

We always camp in Expo (have been since 2003).. Main reason being is that it has the cover of the cowsheds which is a godsend when it rains, or if it's too hot.
Has showers, toilets, electricity etc.. Plus the Danes set us a large tent with a band/TV/BBQ etc, and it's the cheapist place to get a drink.
Dowside is it's sandy and sometimes pain to get the tent pegs in..

A well run site, good toilets and showers warm when I used them. Bar well run and TV coverage excellent. Friendly support from the TL guys.

The only downside was the time taken to serve the hot food (from a seperate suppliers van) which seemed to take ages so I didnt bother queueing...

Hello - we've been in Expo for 5yrs or so, we always have the large camp shed next to the Dane's big tent This is the first year we haven't been there (long story) but will be back next year

Houx annexe in the sandy / dusty bit up by the Bugatti toilets clean not many of them so plan your visits... site quieter ans smaller than last year

stayed at Houx Annex this year after being in MB the last 3 years
we all thought HA was meant to be a party campsite but we just found it really quiet & pretty dull!
that coupled with the relentless dust we decided that we would not return.
next year we will be on MB where there is atmosphere & a fun vibe.

I'm quite happy to post a good review of the PH private camping having experienced it as a punter. We use First Tickets but we don't pull any punches, and if the experience isn't up to muster then we'll say so. Most of team PH stayed with First Tickets this year, apart from a few who stayed in a farmhouse a few miles off circuit.

We were in Bleu Nord, which is close enough to the track for me, albeit around a 20 minute walk from the Village. A roughly similar walk from the Porsche Curves though, so quite well placed.

The camping was really good IMHO. Everyone I saw seemed to have a generous enough pitch and it didn't feel as if the road around the site was too cramped either. Security was great - I heard that a few people had stuff taken from the public campsites as per normal, but I'm not aware of any problems in our site.

Showers and toilets were great too. I had no wait whatsoever on Saturday morning, and about 5-10 minutes on Sunday at about 9:30am. Quite reasonable I felt.

We had a big marquee with a bar (EUR 4 for a demi beer) and Eurosport/Radio Le Mans soundtrack, as well as nice courtesies like charging points and an X-Box. There were also regular talks from drivers and teams, which I thought was a really nice touch.

There's a fair amount of aircraft noise in Bleu Nord, but I definitely think I'd use Brian's site if I were going under my own steam as a punter again.

We'd welcome feedback from anyone else who came with First Tickets/PH. Would be good to know if there were any gripes.

Lastly, anyone know the best place to buy one of those Coleman Event Shelters that everyone seems to have? PH needs to upgrade its shared camping gear from our garden centre easy-up (sorry Daz )

Bleu Nord - we got back yesterday after the race had finished to find our tent and all it's contents had been stolen by the local travellers. For that reason I'd only stay there again if inside the secure PH/ AMOC enclosure, seems if you stay in the normal section like we did anyone can get in. But in fairness, Brian from 1st-tickets who we booked it through was very helpful and got us sorted with an earlier ferry crossing back to the UK after our stuff got taken, so thumbs up to him

Ah crap, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope that you'll be able to recover stuff through insurance?

i'd echo HoHo's comments, first year at Airtrack this year and worth every penny, location excellent, showers always warm & clean, loo's good too. A little more expensive than some however you get what you pay for! :-) Five stars Airtrack well done!

Speedchills @ Beausejour.

Year 3 for me with the SC gang down at Beaus. As ever, polite, friendly staff and a well run site meant for a pleasant, comforatble, safe stay. Showers and bogs were spotless all weekend, and I never had to reach for my Andrex On-The-Go once They've improved the site in a few little ways this year from last, and you can tell they do really care about their punters.

Only two gripes this year, but neither massive:
1) no hot water this morning in the shower block, which was a disappointment at 6am when I really could've used more than a 'wet wipe shower' to freshen up before the schlep home
2) ran out of bitter on Saturday (which happened the year before, so I'd hoped they'd have stocked up). Perhaps a few barrels more next time chaps?

I'd recommend SC to anyone. The only choice for 2012 is do we go back to Beausejour, or give Blue Sud a crack!?

Just back and after doing the classic with SC last year we changed from Porsche Club to SC for the main event this year at BSJ.... no issues from the crew it was excellent and will book with them again for the classic next year... our only worry was the lads next door that tried to napalm themselves at 3 in the morning on saturday. Not SC's fault but not quite what was expected in a "secure" site.

Just lucky it didn't ignite a tent or a couple of the "plastic" cars nearby

We stayed on beausjour and had the speed chills membership. On a whole the camp site was again very friendly. Toilets and showers both sc and on site were good. Friday night there was a big dumper bin smouldering and a couple of German people were having a drunken tussle. Some fellows on the speed chills camping were "interesting" but the girls were great.

On another note I had a rather swanky mountin bike left by my car for the weekend, I did try to ask fellow campers if they had lost one.

Well this was year nine for us... and a first for a new camp site. We had always stayed at Houx Annex and had many great laughs over the years with mad Friday at the "round-about" and countless crazy antics on site. Houx is all but gone now ;( We've had a bit of a gap year or three and with deployment commitments had to wait until the very last moment... 1st Tickets "Brian" was top class, we stayed just outside the PH site in Blue Nord and had a good return!! If I could make one suggestion it would be "DONT GO TO THE FLIPPIN SHOWER BLOCKS FULLY CLOTHED"!!!!!! Flip-flops, shorts, towel and your toiletries fellas... The amount of people who wasted others time by getting undressed in the shower then getting dressed after the shower, which probably only takes five minutes.... come on get a grip!!! Oh and no budgie smugglers!

We stayed at Le Houx this year and again and it was very good. The campsite is quite a nice area and always a good crowd. People are respectfull of noise and always some good music playing and always some nice cars with the TVR crew being there. There is always some mucking about but always sensible. The campsite is pretty close to the village so no monster hikes. Toilets and showers are ok but the "normal toilets" are few and far between and not always cleaned at peak hours!!! Used to be good for mad friday but in the last few years it has got more and more quiet as the muppets have favoured it at one of there viewing points

I'm not keen on the total immersion LM/beer/racket/chaos experience (I know, old, past it etc. - all true of course); I went with my (young-ish) son last year, so asked Speed Chills for a "civilised" campsite a bit removed from the track. They sent me to Pont Romain, at Yvre l'Eveque. It was really good, so I went back this year, and will go again. No good if you want to be right in the action, but an easy drive (or coach transfer, this year) to the circuit. Suits me. Speed Chills have been efficient and helpful, too...

We stayed at the B&B Hotel the far side of the Super U supermarket in Arnage. Downsides - the cost and we missed the buzz of camping in Bleu Nord like the previous 14 years but on the plus - a bed, hot showers, and buffet breakfast for 4 days makes up for it. Only a short drive to the circuit as well.

Shhhhhhh don't tell everyone about it, its the great secret site and should stay that way. We've been there for years now, probably heading towards or beyond 10 years. Only problem was that this year someone had taken "our" spot!

The surprise of this year was the refurbished toilets although I am not sure they were an improvement. Yes the change from squatting bogs to sit on ones is great but why remove all the basins? And if you're going to remove all the basins why make the toilet cubicles so sodding small.
