Obviously nothing official yet, but when are we thinking the 2012 renewal will be run? My work require me to book off way in advance, and most years this is an easy call, but this years looks tough as it could be either the 9th or the 16th June.

Lemansrace.com reckons 9th June, but I'm inclined to think the 16th is more likely given previous years timings.

Anyone got a decent stab at this as I'm going to have to gamble on the dates I book!!!

Just do what i've done, book the first second and third weeks off and then cancel the two non applicable weeks.

Might be slighly different next year as it's also a round of the new FIA WEC and I think there is talk of harmonising the dates so there isn't GP, MotoGP and LM all on the same weekend.

I would say 16th over the 9th, but could be/probably am wrong!

I don't remember where I read it, but it was somehwere official, that it's 16/17 June 2012.

LM 2011 did seem notably early this time.

I wonder was this lemansrace.com?

When I googled, this is what came up and was stating it looking very official, but im not convinced they can really be that sure if the ACO havent finalised it. Wonder if theres some small term and condition in there somehwere where they just provisionally sell tickets and confirm the date later.

I Googled it too, some places are claiming the previous week (looking fairly official)...

I've already booked the week where the race will be on the 9th, but have put a clause where the date of the race is yet to be confirmed and that the time off will coincide with the race. The 9th does seem slightly early though!

The classic is on the 7th of July so I'd say that the 9th June is the more likely. Also it's always on the second weekend of June so this would also tally.

I think you're on the button with that one.

I thought that the race was always booked on the weekend closest to the summer solstice on June 20, to take advantage of the shortest nights??

In 2012 the solstice falls on June 20, so I would expect the race to be on the weekend of the 16th or 23rd June 2012.

No dates on the ACO website at the moment.

Cheers,

Just had info from the powers that be at Le Mans, looks like the dates for 2012, are w/e 23rd June, there's some sort of Departmantal Elections on the previous w/e, that they dont want to disrupt. Might be a bit warmer.

23rd would be very late for the race. Would be surprised.

Not easier to set/change regions election dates away from race!

Please let it be the 9th!

I'm on half term from school and I might actually be able to go for once!

Yes but some one has to put the cones out and return them

The paper was saying the other day London will be a 'No Go Area' for about three months

It is indeed... But as one of London's finest we will most likely end up with all leave being cancelled from the 12th (i think) of June '12 till after the paralympics!! Busy busy busy...

It prob won't be as glamorous as putting out cones, will be stood around the stadiums giving directions and posing for photos with tourists!! Woopee!!!
