Classic vs 24h

Went to Le Mans 24h a couple of years ago and had a great time. I enjoyed having a few beers and watching the race, etc but the problem with it was that it just seemed to be like a massive weatherspoons because of all the dheads that went.

Is the Classic the same sort of thing but a bit more sophisticated? The 24h just seemed to be full of tts on stag do's.

Seems you were in crap/chav parts of the circuit. I've been going to LM24 since 1996 and never seen anything like you mention. However, I think I know where to avoid.

The LM Classic is entirely different: older cars (obviously) more cars..maybe 400 or so, lots of 45 minute races, less busy but getting busier, access to the paddock (a must IMHO), and tickets a bit cheaper. So far I've not experienced at LM Classic anything like you have at LM24.

The weather always seems cold at the Classic, however!

Certainly the Classic was not colder last year and where do you go at the Le Mans 24hour to not see any chavs?? They're everywhere!

Went round as much of the circuit as I could and the tts were everywhere. So is the Classic for car enthusiasts or pissed tts like the 24h?

Very much enthusiasts. The Classic lacks the buzz of the 24 as there are not as many people but, it makes up for it by being more relaxed and a lot more refined.

It is a petrolheads dream as the cars you get just pootling about are fantastic.

I think it's more about the women at the classic. I'm not talking dancing girls but wifes. The 24hr has a much higher male/female ratio and tends to see a lot of 'lads only' groups. The classic is much more a family shindig.

One point I've found AGAINST the classic though is - it's much harder to sleep. At the 24hr the car noise on Saturday night is just a constant lullaby. At the classic you get the quite breaks between grids, then it goes noise again - and I wake up.

We didn't see any idiots al last years Classics and will be going again next year totally different race though it may be 24 hours of racing but its 7 or so different classes racing over and over again which I prefer to be honest.

Got to find some better camping next year though we were that close to the race track last year the ground vibrated when they went past.
