Le Mans for a 1st timer
Discussion
We go on the tuesday bring a large icebox for food. Go the supermarket when we arrive get some food enough for the day and morning and two blocks of ice to keep the meet cool over night. Set up the tents etc have a bbq then do whatever really.... Repeat process. Only advice id give is leave on the monday if you plan on staying up for the race.
Some people seem to get hung up about the presence of chavs at Le Mans, but I didn't rally notice anything beyond the usual...or maybe I am one - oh lord that's a sobering thought.
2012 will be our second time. We headed down on Thursday, to settle in, stock up at Carrefour and watch the second qualifying session. This year on Friday we just had a mooch round, went to the village, museum etc etc. Next year we'll probably make the trip into Le Mans itself.
We were based in Bleu Nord, and on the Saturday night we went to Arnage. All well and good, but chuffing miles away and don't be conned into thinking you can save time on one of the buses! I am currently reviewing options for getting my push bike down there, which would make Arnage an easy 10/15 minute pedal.

Le Mans is a more important break than Christmas for alot of people, myself included! Get yourself onto Beer Mountain and say hello, good friendly bunch and believe me you will make some great friends.
To put into perspective, last year I went on beer mountain the week previously and caught a ride down with a group of guys I hadn't ever met before. I had a brilliant time, made some great friends and caught up with them again this weekend at Silverstone. That is the sort of thing Le Mans is all about.
Oh and you have to sticker up your car. It's PistonHeads law.

As one of the commentators said on Radio Le Mans in '10 " I can't think of anywhere on this planet I rather be than here now..."
