Campsite advice

Being going to Le Mans for 10 years and always stayed outside on a local village campsite (usually La Suze). Thinking of staying in one of the ciruuit sites next year, looking for secure, easy circuit access, bar facilities if poss etc...does anyone have any suggestions as to the options?

Our trips have always developed over the years to the point where we are now bringing fidges to hook up to power etc so would be interested to know what our options are within circuit?

The beermountain forum has a good guide on campsites. I've only stayed in Karting Nord - good side generally but very limited electrical hookup. Houx has the best facilities like that from memory.

many sites have campsite guides but often these are not what you want, as always price gives you the best guides as the better sites comand the highest prices despite what the guides say, decide what it is you want first and then pick a site that gives you as much of those, however most people use the same sites every year so they will always say there site is best even though they have no recent experience of the others, I have always been happy on TR so try to stay there evry year, however I know that houx and MB are equally good, but I like the site because it overlooks the best bit of track and has the best access to everything i want, although that access is more restricted during the actual race. One point is what ever you choose getting hold of those tickets can be expensive and rocking horse poo is often easier to obtain

Houx in my opinion is the best site. We are lucky to have reserved pitches with a ticket agency, but probably all sold/allocated now.

just had a quick thomas cook at the beermountain guide - looks like it could be tetre rouge or karting nord? thoughts?

Never been to Tet rouge but have been to Karting Nord. We liked it but try to keep to the far end towards the karting track. It can get very dusty there if the weather is good. Easy access too the circuit, can see the track from the site. If in the right spot 7/10

Have used TR for the last 10 years but getting hold of them gets harder each year, very small site full of long term race fans mostly same people each year, best security at Le Mans but proximity to the track means getting cars in and out during the race a problem, best place by far to be if it rains as it is the highest point on the track and any rain that falls there ends up in houx annex (speaking from experience)

We've had great experience on Houx Annexe and KN but none better than on TR. Very difficult to book pitches for, most will be reserved by now and it's a long walk down to the grandstands and pits but an excellent spot during the race and for access to the parade in town via the nearby tram.
