Dare I mention the Football (Euro 2012)?
Discussion
Hi All. I know from previous years that a lot of you aren't interested in football but equally some are interested in the Football or the socialising that's involved when watching it! Anyway I'll get to the point:
England were today drawn in the same group as France (Sweden & Ukraine) which is group D which means that England will be playing Sweden at 6pm Friday 15th June which is exactly the same time as the drivers parade starts in Le Mans centre. Then straight after at 8.45pm France plays Ukraine. I know where I'll be heading to watch it in town and I'll be missing the drivers parade which has a great atmosphere but not as good as a certain Irish bar when it's spilling out onto the street.
P.S. Sunday night at 8.45 is Portugal v Holland and Denmark v Germany either game will be a decent replacement for the Canadian Grand Prix which has been on in the Stella Bar the previous few years.

Hang on a minute They've changed the games around in the final schedule!
Ukraine v France 6pm Friday 15th June
Sweden v England 8.45pm Friday 15th June
Which means I can maybe catch the start of the parade and catch up with the France game in the 2nd half.
In 2008 they showed games on the big screens.... next year I will miss the football.... Ukraine v France 6pm Friday 15th June
Sweden v England 8.45pm Friday 15th June

The world cup (I think it was), never had any impact so this shouldn't.
The World Cup was a big part of The Village entertainment and atmosphere in 2010. The crowd at the village big screen was intense and marvellous. It made for a huge addition to the 2010 Le Mans experience for me and many others. JK mingling through the crowd in a Stig outfit was hilarious. Brilliant way to get around the village without getting regognised and mobbed by fans. Yes, we are all there primarily for the racing, but I really object to the football haters/motor racing "geeks" who get volatile on here about football coverage during the Le Mans event. It just adds an element of international competitiveness to the whole week for me. Can't wait. johnhere said:
Are you sure kick off is not at 17:00 uk time?
Those of you attending the Pistonheads meet at Le Bounty are welcome to stay on and watch the football.
John
France game kicks off 5pm uk time or 6pm in France and England game kicks off 7.45 uk time and 8.45 in France (Friday 15th June). They changed the 2 games around after the draw. Probably something to do with the TV rights for England. I guess friday night at 7.45pm uk time is better for the UK sponsors / advertisers. Those of you attending the Pistonheads meet at Le Bounty are welcome to stay on and watch the football.

Would like to try and get to Le Bounty in the afternoon. Went to the Mulsanne gatherings a few times but mostly by bus as hard to get motorhome out on the Friday.

Oh you object do you.. Geeks? Volatile?... Really.I'd walk out a pub that had football on. Hate everything about football.
Will they have a grand prix or Le mans showing on a screen at these football games? No, because they are there for that sport/game. One screen at the circuit, ok I'll live with that. If they showed it track side, I'd be disgusted.
I object to those who object about someone just with a different opinion.
The football was one of my highlights of 2010! I don't really have an interest in watching football so whilst the Speedchills tent at Beausejour was full of footballists I took my camping chair and a crate of "33" (I know how to live!) up to the inside of Porsche Curves and watched the cars blast past with hardly anybody there. Brilliant!
More football the better!
More football the better!

I'm sick of being emotionally invested in a bunch of overpaid underachieving whinging useless tosspots.
I refuse to even acknowledge that they have even the slightest chance. They will just let me down again if I think about getting even slightly hopeful.
Now Now, that's no way to talk about our Goverment..........
