Village on The Curves

This is to advise that we have changed the name of the Porsche Owners International Village to the Village on the Curves for 2012, same team same excellent service and catering and great sports cars. WE will of course still be on the inside of the Porsche Curves.

I take it that means PCGB can't fill their site by themselves? Which is slightly sad, the days of the big organised car clubs at the 24 seem to be over (I know many still have a big presence at the Classic). The first year we went (03) I remember being at Portsmouth docks when 120+ Caterhams arrived in convoy, I believe earlier than that they could turn out big enough numbers to block book an entire ferry, I think the Morgan owners used to be fairly big too. Seems a bit of a shame.

Unfortunately the site is no longer run by PCGB and is privately operated although by the team who ran it in 2010,The organising team feel that they wish to expand the site and would like to encourage all different marques which will add to the flavour of the village.

We would be pleased to encourage any car Club to join us as we can arrange for then to have their own area and identity if required.

Great idea but a tad too late for other clubs who have booked well in advance for 2012. I think this needs to be advertised directly to clubs and generally on sites like PistonHeads as soon as the 2012 race has finished as that's when proper fans and clubs start to plans the 2013 trip. Good luck with it. We went to the Porsche Curves last year and had a couple of pints in the German run campsit next door. They were a friendly bunch and the beer was reasonably priced too.

Thanks for the comments,we have already marketed to many car clubs last year and the take up has been excellent.We hope that we will get a reputation for a good quality secure site with excellent catering and beer prices below circuit prices. We will again be offering day passes for those who wish to use the facilities on race day and sample the village first hand.

What we dont want to lose is the Club feel which is important to many of our participants and we believe makes this site unique.

Just to say this will be our third year at the village. The passing of the PCGB direct link has not been a major loss, the site is just great and fantastically well run. The caterers do a fantastic job, great food with a smile. The Saturday barbecue, Friday fish and chips and Sunday roast are such an improvement on the circuit/local food. The pitches are plenty big enough, there's six of us, each has there own tent, three cars and there's plenty of room. Hot and clean showers. I really like the location, 1 minute walk to the curves, so we take in all the race and practice sessions and its quieter than the main camp-sites. Beer on tap is good quality and good value. Security means leaving the cars is stress free. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
