Is it possible to see the cars at full-tilt anywhere on the circuit? I know that Mulsanne is fairly well locked down, but can you see them approach if you are on the Mulsanne corner?
What about Indianapolis? It looks like there is a spectator area outside the circuit, opposite Arnage but you cant see the Indy straight there?

No viewing on the outside of Indianapolis...Arnage is slow but the approach to Porsche is quite good. I took a clip there which I uploaded to youtube...

Not quite, I'm sure they have another gear change just as they go out of seight, always wanted to get to the inside of the Porsche curves but not sure how to get there.watky555 said:

Not quite, I'm sure they have another gear change just as they go out of seight, always wanted to get to the inside of the Porsche curves but not sure how to get there.There are two viewing areas inside the Posrche curves (depending how pedantic you want to be about corner names).
The first is inside the Beausjour camping area but I think all you need is a GA ticket to get to it. Under the bridge, right in to the camp site, follow the road turning right and you should stumble on it.
The second is on the roof of the karting track. Under the bridge, turn left and I think there's direct access to the karting track. If there isn't just go in to the Karting Nord camp site and you can get to it from there by hitting the track and walking back on yourself.
There's also meant to be a non-ACO viewing area on the Mulsanne straight at the hotel. Going from memory but I think it's (the hotel) on the exit of the second chicane.
Go to Arnage corner and walk down the spectator banking to Indianapolis. You get a good head on view of the cars at the end of the run down from Mulsanne before they hit the brakes. As has been said, the roof of the Karting pits is also a pretty good place to watch, but don't tell anybody else or everybody will want to be there...........what?

Hmmm, interesting thread this, just confirms my feeling that as I am interested in following the race and not the crack, getting drunk or driving like a madman in France I am better off at home following it online. Plus compared to when I went some years ago I wont get ripped off by ridiculous prices for everything, the camping charges are outragious!

Best I saw, was, in 2009, at the post Porsches curves straight banking area, after watching the guys from Beer Mountain, selling off their excess bottles of beer, a chappie follows me to the food van.
I gets 3 Kebabs, terrible, might I add, €30, ekk ! Chappie, gets a portion of chips...€10 for..... 12 chips !!!!! we counted them, 12, I tells ye. He went spare, French type tells him to shove it !!! He then proceeds to empty half the red sauce bottle over the 12 chips, and returns the cordial greetings. I found it so funny, it wasn't until I was in the car park at the end of the race, that I realised I'd paid £30 for 3 crap keeebaabs.
Those mischieves French Types, don't you just love 'em.

You are talking about the minority. Mostly well behaved in my experience but yes some idiots unfortunately. I totally disagree with you on the campsite charges though. Anything up to six days camping for this event is just £40. Entry for the whole weekend for the greatest Motorsport event ever is just £60 !
Never been ripped off at Le Mans. If you don't want to pay €6 for a beer take your own. We need more well behaved people like you so change your mind and book !

With a bit of trogging through campsites and creeping about in the woods it's possible to stand about 2-3m back from the barriers on the inside of the circuit on the run up to the Porsche curves. Sneaking about with your torches off and running from les Gendarmes (or indeed groups of drunk Danes, who in turn think that you're the gendarmes) is all part of the fun! As mentioned earlier, watching from the roof of the kart track pits is a good spot too. What about Indianapolis? Last year we were in the aforementioned bit of the woods when the safety car for Rockenfeller's crash was out. The noise the packs of cars made when they went past on their first flying lap was incredible and well worth pulling thorns out of my arms for the next few hours.
