Le mans sites. Where are you staying?

Evening all

Me and a few mates are making the trip to Le Mans this year and had a nice chat with the people from 1st tickets Saturday at autosport.

They told us of the sites they have space left on which from memory was Expo, blue nord and one I forgot the name of, but it looked pretty secluded (something jour?)

Anyway, I'd like to know who you guys booked with and what site you're staying at.

Also, they informed me that the Mulsanne straight is out of bounds. Does anyone ever sneak round there for a butchers at night?

How much do you think we should budget for per person for a group of 4?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want us to get it right first time round.

I have booked into houx annexe again which is one of the larger sites in the centre of the circuit. I booked with just tickets again as they are very helpful and we have used them for years.

Mulsanne is out of bounds but there are few that have there own secrets to getting there ;-)

Spending money all depends on how much beer you drink and what souvineers you buy but I would say you can have a good time with a couple of £100.

I did fancy the houx but I'm sure that's fully booked.

I don't want to book a site and find its too quiet for our liking, and it'd be nice to be near the trackside too.

1st Tickets did say you can pretty much go on any campsite and mingle though.

Maybe I just need to get it booked and do it trial and error.

Also, I'm not sure which car to take. I was going to take the skyline for the convoy and bit of spirited driving down there but heard the boys in bleu are everywhere on route. They sure know how to ruin things eh!

Houx annexe is a very lively campsite with a lot going on but yea its not on the track boundary but plenty close enough.

Have a read of the campsite reviews on beermountain - some are a bit out of date but generally very good.
Key factor I think is location, you don't want to have a 20-30 minute walk from your site to get near the track/a decent viewing spot/the village. We were in Karting Nord 2 years ago and I woudn't want to be further south than that personally.

Gone for Garage Vert this year having scoped it out before - location looks good, near village and tram, apparently very secure, prob not massively party site which suits us.

Dean the one you couldn't remember is Beausejour.

We we're on there last year. The site itself is fine and some areas of it are lively.

But the walk to the village and Dunlop Bridge was over an hour!

The closest you'd get in about 15 minutes is Porsche Curves.

We'll be on Bleu Nord this year (about 15 cars in our group). Booked with 1st Tickets

Stayed in Blue Nord last year and really enjoyed it, great atmosphere 99% of the time and pretty good bogs and showers. Staying in PH Blue Nord this year so looking forward to that......

We have decided on either houx unallocated or bleu nord.

Anyone got any feedback on houx unallocated sites? Also, the woman on the phone said tetre rouge is quite a popular site. Anyone stayed there?

We'll be going in my 535d in carbon black so we are trying to get the vinyl to replicate (sort of) the Jeff Koons art car. Obviously not as good but you'll know what we tried to do!

Tetre Rouge is small, and very popular so you will struggle to get tickets now I think. Location superb its adjacent to the track which most people like but obviously noisy all the time when the race is on, easy to get to village, tram etc. I think it tends to have slightly older groups who have been coming for many years, in party terms there is probably less going on than Houx etc. Worth trying if you can get tickets I’d say.

Can you go on sites your not staying on?

You can go any of the public camping areas with your general admission ticket, there is no point though unless you are visiting a friend.

many of the campsites are now closed unless you have a pass, expensive sites like TR have strict security that requires a rentry pass to get onto once you have arrived, this means you can leave the campsite and not have to worry about leaving all your gear, although you do have to be sensible about expensive stuff.
you will find something to do on all sites as they are full of people drinking and eating.
Best sites are probably sold out by now but try all the agencies, the ACO itself and the tourist office in Le mans, the last two are by far the cheapest but by now will have limited availability. If by some luck you do get TR you will know why it is full of long term Le Mans people, once you stay there you will pay the extra

I wouldn't stay at the circuit if you paid me! I have a lovely campsite about 20 min from the circuit with a reasonably priced bar, live coverage of the race on TV, large swimming pool and CLEAN toilets and showers.

And no - I won't tell you where it is!

Chateau Chanteloop is a good place if you don't want the hussle and bussle.
We use it for the Classic.

well we stay at le mans have own bar with supermarket prices, fresh food cooked on the BBQ, and at TR good toilets and showers, and rather than watch the race on a TV we see it all live, plus the company of the best sportscar fans in the world.
