Yes was told this over there at xmas, will buy shares in company making them. But if you get pulled over surely you could say your breathalyser said the level was fine when you started driving???

I hate drink driving, but this is the most pointless waste of time regulation.

Those who drink drive, know they shouldn't be driving. If they aren't bothered by that, then these disposable items aren't really going to deter them.

Bet the legal system is looking forward to the defences coming up! 'i used this non calibrated disposable device as required and it showed I was safe to drive. I felt fine also. Sorry I threw it out the window before driving off. I did everything I could to ensure I was safe to drive. I can't believe when stopped I blew over the limit'.

Doesn't seem to be any requirement to use them. Just to have one in the car. If you do want to use it then you need at least two.

Makes more sense not to use it.

I'm not sure that's the whole case. How long you leave it before driving the morning after can be a tricky one to figure out.

Whether these things are accurate or not is another matter but there are times where it'd be handy to know for sure.

They are not 100% accurate by any streach of the imagination. Even the Police roadside breatalizers wouldn't convict you on their readout alone which is why you are nicked and breatalized again and your blood taken at the station. There are so many things to take into account and these piddly cheap little gadgets could give you the wrong info and end up losing your licence. The French of course think differently so I'm going to buy one just on the off chance I'm stopped and can produce one if asked thereby pissing on the Gendarmes strawberries.

The EU complaint police approved Breathalyzers are only £1.66 each...not a big deal really compared to the cost of the tolls

I'm afraid the French police do not have to justify anything - so I will carry a couple in the car - you cant be wrong then can you ! (?)

Personally I can't understand what the purpose of carrying these things actually is - is it to use when a friendly Gendarme thinks you have been drinking to save them having to provide them, or to use to check your condition before you drive - which if it is OK you have used the thing for nothing and therefore need to carry more than one to be compliant with the law ??

Its 32 years this year since my first LeMans and this has to be the daftest of the many changes I have seen over the years !!
