Travelling back Monday - what time?

Thinking of travelling back on the Monday this year. Looks like we'll have to drop camp at 6am to make it back home at a reasonable hour. What time do most people leave on the Monday?

We leave about midday so we get plenty of sleep.

We've got to get back to Yorkshire in time for work on Tuesday so that might not be an option! Looks like on the road at 7am for us, wondering if we'll be the only ones.

We leave maison blanche at 9.30 Monday morning and get home to Buckinghamshire by 6.30/7pm.

We shall leave early afternoon, overnight ferry to Hull, then straight to work.

We'll be up at 6 & away too, takes a long time to get to Scotland in a Hilux that struggles to reach 60

we find leave early thursday going and leave early monday on the road 7 sharp !! get a lot off the HQ packed away sunday evening works well

We are going to leave at 9ish so we catch an early afternoon ferry, so I should get back to Aylesbury early evening.

No point leaving early on Monday. Sunday night is a great wind-down time with no idiots letting off fireworks at 3am for no apparrent reason or sound systems being left on by people trying to convince everyone else they are having a better time than you. Generally, its just people drinking talking and eating round camp fires having a great last night so leave later, avoid the jams (French people do go to work ) and lessen the que at the tolls. We leave around 11am which gives us plenty of time for breakfast and packing up and some shopping at the Eurotunnel duty free. Get home at about 7pm but we do live in Kent so for us it's quite an easy trip UK side

We usually leave at around 9 am ish, get near to Calais for lunch & maybe wine shopping, then Le Shuttle at around 3 pm and home at 3:30 UK time. Note that Le Shuttle is always fully booked so essential to arrive for your booking. A breakdown firced us to miss one year but only a few minutes and we had a 4 hour wait.

Leaving late sounds nice. We have 10 hours of driving plus a crossing to fit, then my mate has a further 90 min drive to his house :-(

We leave Sunday after the race, hotel in ouisterham, nice shower, beers seafood platter, beers and then 8.30am ferry home in the morning....love it

Usually leave camp about 8:30/9 on monday, ferry at 3/4pm then home for 9/10pm up here in manchester.

Have used the overnight return from Caen a couple of times. It's a good trip, short drive from LM, nice meal at the port and a lot of tasty motors on the boat. Brittany Ferries are soooo expensive though.

What are the queues at the autoroute tolls just south of Rouen like on Monday morning?

Last time I went a few years back we queued for ages there on the Monday morning (10-11ish am)

The queues at the tolls near Rouen and Bolougne are both pretty bad on the Monday. I have a transponder which certainly helps a lot once you can get into the allocated lane. You can also exit at the earlier toll, of course.

Leaving at an earlier toll was going to be my plan if they were still bad, I think we queued for nearly an hour once!

Staying on Blue Nord last year, Sunday early evening was good natured with many Brits coming together to watch the mamouth Canadian grand prix, but later on the fireworks started and the fires and very loud music bagan, leading to very very little sleep, this made the drive to Yorkshire a long journey. This year were leaving after the race and finding hotel somewhere nr Rouen. If anybody any suggestions (like your going to share them if you do for fear of it getting fully booked up!!) they would be greatfully appreciated.

I'm lucky don't leave Le Mans until the Tuesday and even then its only as far as the Cherbourg peninsula for ten days chilling out before heading for Fife after three weeks away.
