First Le Mans Trip

Hi all - doing our first Le Man trip this year - 6 of us in 2 cars --> 911, Cayman S and C63AMG Coupe....

How do we book camping tickets and entry tickets??? Google letting me down!!

Is it best to do with a company or do you go direct to the camp sites?

Depends which year you want to go - 2012 you will basically HAVE to use an agency (or eBay) at this point as everything will have gone, 2013 and you will be able to book direct in a few months.

Try first tickets, they managed to give me a second pitch last week.

Also, you said two cars but listed 3!? You will really need 3 pitches for 6 people and 3 cars.

Really does depend what you want.
If you just want to camp and have GE race tickets, then just give an agent a buzz.
Realistically now your campsites are restricted to non allocated pitches (try and avoid) or Bleu Nord.
This is good and close to the main entrance. £75-£80 per car on pre-allocated/numbered pitches. GE passes will cost £65 from an agent or wait until you get there and buy at the gate for 65euro.

But my advice is if your weekend budget allows, do it in a bit of comfort.
Give one / all of the agents listed above a call, compare what they offer and prices and get booked up.

My advice would be to just bowl up and get your camping/entry tickets on the day. There's always plenty of camping places (Baeusejour/Pincinardiere etc) and they'll never run out of General entry tickets.

Hi all - so the ferry is booked for Friday morning from Portsmouth. Current fleet (we have added 4 more people and 2 more cars):

Mercedes C63AMG Coupe
Porsche Carrera S
Porsche Cayman S
Porsche Boxster S
....and also a very classic car to be confirmed.....

Told we can get camping pitches closer to the actual event!!! Very very excited!!!!

Only advise would be get your camping tickets in advance.
Yes you can get in Beausejour or other sites, but they are free for all. If you don't arrive until late Thursday, then you will be pitched at the back. This means a long walk. Also, pitching together with a reasonable group maybe an issue. Again depends when you turn up.
You can still buy adjacent numbered pitches for Bleu Nord from some agents. This is close to the main entrance and village and your pitches will be waiting for you regardless of when you travel. Peace of mind! And buy your GE when you arrive.

First time I went was 1982, we drove down Friday evening (overnight) parked in parking blue next to the Airport Sat morning. We booked the Ferry at 5pm on the Friday and was on it at 9pm, We did not take any type of camping gear with us Bought our GE ticket at the gate then walked around and watched the racing (wile drinking Beer). Found a load of old cardboard boxes, threw them down on the bank by Maison blanc and woke up the next morning to a misty day and group C cars blasting past It had been a baking hot day on Saturday and during the night the temp had dropped, the cardboard boxes helped but a sleeping bag would have been better

I like to do things in a little more comfort now, but it was a great experience This year were going Posh with TL

you need only book your camping places, if you give Nadine at the tourist office in Le mans a ring she will sort something out for you and you will only pay list price with no agents mark up, plenty of camping still available this year, as i have had several emails from agents in the last week however if there are 5 cars you are very unlikely to get 5 pitches together on allocated sites unless you pay through the nose

I spoke to 1stTickets (who are an official PH site sponsor) this morning and booked a second pitch in the PistonHeads Blue Nord private enclosure, they said they still have availability in this enclosure and in general Blue Nord. This is only my second LM but we used them last year and they were great, and so far so good this year too

1st Tickets have done us proud for the last few years. We use the Newhaven / Dieppe ferry, but it all depends on where home is and how far you want to drive on the other side. AND DON'T SPEED. French plod doesn't like it and can take your licence away on the spot. Then you are well stuffed.
