Thinking go doing LeMan this year?
Discussion
Hi, we always park up on one of the ACO sites (Maison Blanche) and we've never had any trouble. If you go for a private site you'll get better security - at a cost.
1st tickets are official ticket agents and run a private site as well, Team Langoustine run a private site, as do speedchills, and there's the village on the curves. Just tickets may have a private site too - not sure.
Try giving them all a bell, and as our english literature teacher used to say "Compare and Contrast".
If you book an ACO site, you've probably left it very late to get a wide choice.
Let us know how you get on (it's always good to find out what's out there). If you visit beermountain.com there's lots of info on camping, different sites, the race and some of the social aspects.

Look on Beermountain for the first timer very helpful. It depends on your budget for the trip. There are always going to be good sites to camp and better ones.
As for me it has to be safe for my son and I and my car.
As some areas it can be OTT, when driving to your campsite lock your doors and windows up. Put up your tent leave your car parked up until you leave to go home.

Why should I lock my car doors and windows when driving through campsites?

don't worry about that unless you are in certain area's on mad friday,
+1Don't worry about being sprayed / molested when you're driving around until after Thursday - getting anywhere Friday onwards by car is a mission. The CRS (French riot police) have become less tolerant year on year of "mad Friday" type behaviour, as mad Friday participants and spectators have got more out of hand. A couple of years ago they turned up on houx annexe and gassed everyone (CS smoke) to disperse the crowds).
For security - go for one of the private camp sites (e.g. SpeedChills/WhiteRabitRacing/Team 'Lobster' (can't be bothered to look it up/will spell it wrong if I don't). You pay more but know that so has everyone inside the fence and have private security to keep the plebs out while you're away from camp.
Driving around - never had any issues before 12 on Friday after which some areas just become too much a pain in the ass to be bothered with. That said if you can avoid the section of road past Maison Blanch/Beausjoure/Houx you probably won't see any issues either (so stay in Maison Blanche/Bleu Nord/Blue Sud/Tetre Rouge)

If you want a civilised time, good food, clean loos, hot showers, try the lycian events xcampsite on the porsche curves, pictures here http://www.lycianevents.com/. Its really good.

I saw the crowd bounce a local police car onto two wheels one year. It's the only place I ever lock the doors with myself inside the car!
