There are three of us going this year so I'd rather not take our huge 8 man tent. I was looking for something for us that possibly has a couple of sleeping compartments, can get the 3 of us in properly (one of us is my 9 year old son) , packs down small is easy to put up and not massively expensive..
any ideas?

I was in Decathlon Saturday and they now do a two compartment plus live quarters as such in the pop up version. looks superb and wasnt too expensive either. ive got a two man using their same pop up device and it is as it says 2 seconds up and about 15 seconds down.
Hope this helps.

I've bought one of these. Seems to get a decent review from those who own one.
Good price too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004LB4BP4/ref=asc_df_B...
Although the '4' might suit better?

Thanks for the pop up hint, I've just bought

As we are on a 12:45 tunnel back I figured getting something that took less than an hour and a half to pack up would be handy!

Glad to see people are recommending Decalthon and Quechue.
Considering this one myself: http://tente.quechua.com/en/tent/r-8,a-61,tente-2-...

Everyone bar Riggers who has a wedding of some sort to attend, so that's me, Stuart, Dan Trent, Switch, Matt Dell, Racing Pete, Pheedback and design guru Darren C (dlc74). In addition we also have a guest appearance from a member of the HM board who is along for the ride too.
We'll attempt to be as visible as possible as it's great to meet PHers when we can
Where are you camping?

Great to hear you're staying with us! That was a great year, never to be repeated I'd say, and yes we had an R8 too.
We're in the same corner for this year so come over for a beer. I'll be in the TVR this time.

We had great fun one year watching a group try to pack away their pop-up tents. "15 secs down" it wasn't. Great cheer from all the surrounding camps when they eventually beat them all into submission :-)
oh now they've really got their act together at Decathlon the taking down of the "pop up" is really simple with clearly marked folding/holding areas and a pull rope to initiate the collapse.Ian
Yeah, we've now ended up with 2 of their pop ups now. The 2 second xxl and now a bit bigger family 4.1 (I'm 6' and can just about stand up in it)
The 2 second is really easy to put up and pull down. The family 4.1 is easier with 2 to put up and down. Once you get over the fact you think you are going to snap the poles in half it comes down and packs easy. They're currently something like half price at £99. Not bad for such a roomy tent. Not much difference in size between the 2 when packed either.

First time up, from opening the bag to sitting inside was less than 7 minutes and I suspect next time now I have read the instructions less than 5 and with help I really do think it could be done in under 3....
Amazing..
Getting it down was a little harder but I think sub 5 maybe
So thanks chaps, great hint and if anyone else is thinking of a popup....
