Anyone checked the weather???

Looks like we've got st weather for the duration (well we get there a week today and it looks st all week).

If I'm honest, we haven't planned for rain for our trip, and none of us are seasoned campers so what do we want to be thinking about to make the stay a bit more enjoyable? Groundsheets and suitable clothing seem obvious but how do you plan for a wet trip?

We're booked in at houx annex. How does the ground cope with water? Hoping it soaks away and stays firm but can any of you shed light for us

When we returned to find a stream running through our camp, we made a quick trip to Carrefour and returned with a folding pick/shovel. The trenches kept The pitch dry for the rest of the week!

Most people there are not seasoned campers - although you do tend to 'hone' your kit over a few vists. Best just to think of what you would use here - umbrellas, waterproof trousers, decent waterproof coat and a good pair of waterproof boots/shoes - I wouldn't take wellingtons myself as my feet wouldn't hold up to walking far in them so I use a pair of 'CAT' boots. Remember through, there is plenty of hypermarkets in and around Le Mans that will be able to sell you anything you may need...rain or shine!
A decent tent is useful as a lot of the cheap one's tend to leak with minimal rain - as my daughter found out camping at her friends last year!

HA is what was the old 'Sud' side and has flooded in the past (it's by a small lake iirc?) - not experienced it myself however, spade and moats seem to work for a lot of people?

I'm no expert and I'm sure other will be able to give further ideas etc.

I used to worry about the weather but now I'm a bit more chilled about it as it is what it is...the weather report today looks similar to last years at this time (rain etc) and it only rained on Sunday afternoon and evening!

The rain does make the racing more exciting though so which ever way I'm sure you will enjoy it

Another benefit of the Classic Le Mans. Went to Classic two years ago, and in the 80's Went to Le Mans last year, jumpers on and rainy

A work colleague of mine went to the last classic, when he came back all he did was moan that it was to hot for sleeping in a tent....

Only advice I can give if you're on HA is to pick a pitch thats fairly high up the area and avoid the low parts. Try to stay 1 row away from the walls as in the rain (in the dry also), they get used as urinals 'cos it's a long way to walk from the high ground to the toilets.
Always had great fun in the rain on HA, gets everyone together helping each other. You'll meet people and see things you could only imagine otherwise. It's fantatstic.

At least the rain will keep the dust down!

I think all the pitches are numbered now in HA like they are in Houx iirc. Makes it a bit of a lottery if you get a good spot or not.
There are maps for Houx layout, not sure if there is one for HA. if there is at least you could make a guess on whether to bring a spade!

I'm J 53. Not sure if that's high or low ground but seems near enough for the toilets. Looks a few pitches from the perimeter though. Could be hit and miss for the piss places

High ground iirc, I'm sure it slopes down to the lake! There is no wall now (google street view is old) as it has be removed and now the exterior of HA and Houx is that anti climb wire fencing (not sure what it's called!) - Where you are is near the road where it gets 'busy' on Friday day/night! But the other side of the fence!
