What is HOUX like?

If they are numbered, then yes.
It is the best camp site and really is well set out. You maybe near power and water too.
We are on there too, but unnumbered. have been using it for many years now and find it is one of the best.
When you get there you may think your neighbours are a bit offish, but go say hi, and after a few beers everyone gets on.
Fireworks start on Friday night from when it gets dark until about 4am, and so does much and cars screaming up the road.
Keep a look out, Blue Chimaera, 3 silver stripes, Gulf stickers and more.

I always stay on Houx. Its about as close to the village as you can get, and with me being disabled, this is important, as I'm not good at walking long distances (especially in the heat, which I wont have to worry about this year I don't think!)In terms of the site, its good. I only have previous experience of karting nord, but I like houx, it has a generally more chilled out atmosphere than the rest of the sites, a little less rowdy. Pitches are marked out so doesn't matter if you arrive late.
Avoid the yellowish concrete toilet block in the middle of the site and head for the portacabins instead, where there are decent (proper!) toilets and showers (although as luck would have it, I'm always camped by the s
tty long drops and muddy showers!)Generally pretty secure, never any trouble. Its the only site with electric hookup as well. If you see a maroon R plate volvo 940 estate, pop in for a beer (will be cold as we are taking a domestic fridge!!)

The same way you get numbered ones, through the agencies. I think about 10 or maybe 15% of Houx pitches are un-numbered. It's generally the dusty corner pitches. You can see them on the Houx map - they're the ones with a diagonal red line through the box. First come, first served if you want the choice of un-numbered pitches, as some can be ok, but others are dodgy locations that you will never get a tent peg into! Un-numbered pitches are not sought after, they are usually acquired if all else has gone. Mind you, a Houx un-numbered pitch can still be far superior to staying at 'other' camp sites. YRRunner said:
