Push bikes at Le Mans?

Hi chaps,

Last year I was at the Belgian F1 and remember wishing on the Friday & Saturday that I'd taken my mountain bike, but come the Sunday crowds I was glad I hadn't!

Le Mans is a much bigger track to get around and I have a towball bike rack & 2 bikes sat looking at me, begging to be taken. Is it a good idea? I notice the CA guide mentions that bikes are available to hire at the track.

They do seem to be a good way of getting around the circuit. Trying to dodge all the drunken imbeciles teetering round on them in the evening can be a massive pain if you're in the car, though.

Wholely recommend taking bikes. However, if its decent then take a lock and keep an eye on it. French s tried to take mine last year while it lay behind me on grass and it was a crap bike too!

Cheap. Easy to stow. Can be carried.

Just ensure you have enough fuel for the lap of the circuit at the end

If anyone's planning to cycle around the dark country lanes around the circuit at night, please do the rest of us a favour and get some decent lights on your bike and try and stay (relatively) sober! The road from Arnage village down to Arnage corner is particularly dangerous.

We are takin a couple of mini moto's :-) who wants to peddle!!!!

We take those childrens fold up scooters - ASDA - £8 each!!! They fit in the car, can easily be carried and are great for injuring yourself after a few too many St Omer's! We even tried 'getting our knee down' - it didnt end well. Oh and you will look like a prat though.......

We're taking fold up bikes this year for exactly that reason and that we walked there last year....never again!

What do you do with the bikes when you get there? Do you lock them to something (fence, tree etc) outside the entrance or do you take them inside and then maybe lock them to something??

Oh and we do have lights and probably take the florescent jacket you have to have in the car....may look a prat however, after nearly getting run over by many french drivers last year whilst walking back from Arnarge, I want to be 'seen'!

We have four bikes and lock them together outside the main entrance with about 50 trillion and seventy two locks.

Doing the same. Been to other (UK) tracks and taken bikes, not been to Le Mans before but I know it's big and taking bikes wasn't pratical. Scooters actually belong to our kids. I hope they get to see them back.

Just got a couple of folding bikes on the cheap. Usually take mountain bikes on the back of the camper but just in a car this year. Definitely recommend cycling to Arnage Corner Saturday night but also to Arnage Village for Friday lunch or supper. Lights are a must - got a proper bking from Le Plod a few years back - thought it was a bit harsh until I nearly got knocked off a short while later.
