Updating card details for Telepeage
Discussion
Mine is through Sanef and is 3+ years old, about 2 months before my credit card was due to expire Sanef sent me a form by post to update with my new card details. I could then see that the updated details were online once I subsequently created an online account for my transponder. I'm just waiting for the moment the battery goes, that will be fun

I had the same probleM Pincher - my 'badge' is now 6 years old and this is the third time I've needed to update card details. As mentioned above, a form is normally sent out but I forgot to send it back. If you go to the Sanef website (French version) there is an online contact form. Complete this (in French) and select the third option from the drop down (Votre abonnement Liber-T: facture, contrat, badge) and put your card details in the message section (long number, valid from date, expiry date, name on card etc). You will get a confirmation on screen that your message has been received - about three days later I received an e-mail confirming details were updated on the system.

Am I right in thinking you have to buy some sort of device for this Telepeage thing?
A couple of years ago I traveled down to Spain on my Harley using the toll roads, when you arrived at the toll booth you could just put your debit card in the machine and the barrier would lift (you don't get a receipt, it was a lot faster than fiddling around trying to find the right change) but its on your bank statement when you get home? Does this still work? If so I don't see the need for any telepeage thingy?

If you're in a Yank Tank then when you pull up at the tolls you're on the right (left) side for the machine. I guess if you're driving solo in a RHD it could be a bit awkward to pay. Not sure whether a transponder means you don't need to stop and just drive on through without queueing. Might be worth a gander.....Vette_1978 said:

Use the left lane, drive up to the barrier, wait for the beep, barrier lifts, and off you go. When we go to Le Mans each year we get regularly overtaken by all the exotica and then simply pass them at every peage! So, saves queuing, and fiddling with cash and cards. There are the odd places, notable the one at Boulogne, that does get busy even in the telepeage lane but even so it's far quicker than using the other payment methods.
Sanef do make a small charge for supplying the in-car transponder and for setting up the direct debit admin etc, but after that it's simply a matter of seeing the payments, including peage charges of course, on your regular bank statements.
I've got one transponder but two windscreen located holders so both me and my son use the one transponder in each of our cars for when we go to France independent of each other.

Apologies for going slightly OT.
I've often had much horn blowing and hand waving from French drivers following me in UK registered car as I approach the transponder lane. They're trying to direct me into another lane. It's easy to imagine the thoughts they're 'aving.
"stupid foreign driver doesn't know it's a transponder only lane"
"he'll get to the barrier, try to pay, wait for 2 minutes, realise it's the wrong lane and have to reverse, we'll have to back up, time wasted, blah, blah..."
The agressive ones get as close as they can thinking they'll box you in for ignoring them, the reasonable ones hang back and wait.
The look on their faces when you wave the "thingy" and floor the throttle as you go through is priceless! NB. I haven't been able to fix mine to screen as it's not a secure car.
Thoroughly recommend them and the UK based team are very helpful.

I actually had one block me from proceeding down the telepeage lane and being pretty aggressive towards us after a 1hr queue into the booths on the way back from skiing last year!
I also just filled in the form and returned it last time my card expired. You can also go into one of their offices over there and get it sorted out.

"you can go into one of their offices over there and sort it out" - only if you have a french bank account.
It can all be done easily online from here and the gizmo arrives a few days later in the post. From memory, 10Euros to sign up and 2 Euros a month (but only when you are actually in France), plus the actual peage tolls.
We use it all the time - we've just got back from skiing and it probably saved us more than an hour of queuing each way. The weird thing is how many French don't bother with them and just sit in queues getting ratty while we sail by. Although we mount ours on the screen in all the cars - the one it doesn't work in, bizarrely, is the Renault Espace Family wagon, unlike the old Bentley for example. In the Espace you have to wave it out of the window at the sensors to get it to work. The gizmos are not car specific (some people think they are) so just get one and swap it between cars/mates if you're not all travelling together.
