Been so excited about this weekend, I have only just noticed that there are no BMW racing in the GT's, but there were last year. Anyone know why? Also, why are there no Audi R8's for example in the GT class?

BMW withdrew to focus on their DTM entries. They still run in the ALMS though.

R8s have a presence in the GT3/GT4/British GT/Blancpain series with some factory backing. WEC is LMP1 for Audi. All their attention is on the factory backed prototypes.

Thanks. Why don't more privateers use these cars? Also, any view on why mp4's are not being used by privateer teams?

The ACO have their own rules on who gets an entry into Le Mans and only

so many can race .

I would prefer the entire entry was made up of "production" type cars,so full

entry of 458s,911 GT3 RSRs,Astons,MP4-12Cs,Audi R8s,Z4s,Lambos,Ford GTs,Nissan GTRsblabla

It's all about pandering to the French - it's always been that way and the ACO do what they want with the rules to slant the results. If you want to race, you have to be politically astute...
