One positive from all the austerity measures perhaps?

I disagree, I saw them everywhere I went on the roads!

I saw barely any too. Not that I was worried because I wasn't speeding.

I saw a lot of Police, way more than I had seen in previous years.

We traveled down on Friday, and stopped around 45 minutes outside of Le Mans, at a large Service station. There were probably around 50 Police Vans, each capable of holding around 6 officers.

I saw less on the journey (although going by the 'who got caught' thread, they seemed to be lurking in bushes wearing camouflage!), but they seemed to be everywhere at the circuit - which was a good thing in my book as there was much less rowdiness than in previous years.

They were all hiding on the bridges , and in the bushes on the hard shoulder wearing camouflage.

Did not see many on the Thursday drive down, but did get pulled on a (what we would call) a single track lane in the middle of nowhere on the way back to our Hotel, Not speeding but a random check point for local drivers asking them to give a Breath test! I was very lucky wink

When I walked the circuit on Friday there was one hiding in the woods behind a tree trunk on the run from Arnage to Porsche curves. He was pointing his radar gun in the direction of the Porsche curves. It was so sneaky I coudn't beleive it! I though he was taking a pee in the woods until I saw the radar gun. frown

Been in 06,08 and 2010 to the 24 hour. while driving to and from the track from Cherbourg all these times I have only seen 1 police car and that was being pulled out of a ditch in 2006.

Going to the classic this year via St Malo and back via Caen and hoping not to see any

We tried something new this year....came into Dieppe and headed off South West into the forests before tracking South over the Seine (great little free car ferry) and down through Bernay and Alencon running parallel to the autoroute and then a pit stop at Auchan before Le Mans.

A really great drive, traffic free, proper mixture of roads, excellent coffee stops and not one officer of the law seen at all.

Sure it took a bit longer but more of an adventure!

I should have said in my first post, we went down Thursday morning from Calais - getting on the old N138 ASAP after Rouen & came back Monday - motorway the whole trip.
