Classic - Why arrive early?

I note from a lot of the posts that people are arriving earlier than Friday. As the doors don't open until Friday, why are people arriving as early as Tuesday??

Don't get me wrong, having spent 10 days in the past for a Le Mans weekend, I can fully get the whole extended weekend thing, I just wondered if there is much to do on the Wednesday or Thursday for the Classic event??

Campsites open lunchtime Thursday, so it makes sense to take a leisurely drive down and get sorted before Friday in my book.
A lot of people heading to the classic are doing it in older cars and many do an overnight stop on route.
As you say it makes a decent weekend of it.

Plus looking at the forecast, Thursday is the only semi dry day so ideal for pitching tents without it lashing it down!

Sign on and scruitineering on weds/ thur plus drivers and teams doo on Thursday night ;-)

Just to socialise in some of the local spots, and to enjoy a nice long weekend with like minded people. Gotta be better than being stuck at work, working on modern cars!

Chat up the daughter, more wine, and into a nice comfy bed

Thursday, drive into the country side, keeping an eye open for the cops
Another nice meal at one of my favouate resterants in the area, and another good nights sleep

Hi Norman, that's kind of what I was expecting, I was just wondering if all the others realised there is little to see on track

Hope the 'R' performs fully this year, was horrid seeing you pull to the side on the track laps before.

It was the belt that went so no water pump and it took out the pipe to the oil rad
Fortuneatly no other damage was done, got the car back to the UK and put everything right

I won't be taking the XKR this year though as the gearbox is out as I'm fitting a Manual gearbox.
Was hoping it would be ready in time but a change of gearbox spec so had to design a new bell housing that isn't ready yet
I'ts been a long haul but it will be worth it in the long run.

So taking a V8 XJR this year, at least Vicky will be happy !!
