Classic Grandstand seats - roaming or not ?

Did anyone else get hit by the "roaming grandstand seats" that weren't ? I bought the weekend Tribune 18 grandstand seats direct from the ACO as usual and I'm sure in previous years they allowed you access to any stand after 8pm on saturday evening and all day Sunday. This year though, on the Sunday we were unceremonioulsy evicted from the Dunlop bridge grandstand by the security "heavies" as they claimed that despite the tickets saying "access to all grandstands after 8pm on Saturday" this did not apply to Sunday and we could only sit in tribune 18.
We argued whether or not 8am sunday was after 8pm saturday ... I my book it is, but in the ACO security book it only meant until midnight Saturday. Sunday was a different day and therefore not after 8pm Saturday.
After 20 mins of increasingly heated debate we cut our losses and tried our luck at the next one up... Luckily no guards there yet so we dived in, then watched streams of people being turned away from the Dunlop grandstand.
Before I write to the ACO to moan, just wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences or did I misunderstand the "after 8pm Saturday" bit ?

I didn't try the roaming but

I went back to the ACO granstand (18) at 3:30 Sunday morning

I was the only person there

A couple of cleaners turned up about 6:00

We didn't try roaming this time, but had the exact same problem (and arguments with the ACO) at the last Classic.

We managed to sit in a different stand (one down from Dunlop) on Sunday lunchtime with no trouble. Tickets were for Leonard.

I had lagache 19 and had no trouble getting into others, including the lower Dunlop one on Sunday.

No I can back you up, I had grandstand 19 and tried Dunlop at 8.15 in the morning and she was having none of it. I think it was pretty poor as it was a long walk back to take a seat.

Had no problems using other grandstands on Sunday morning. Ticketed for T19 but used T5 (Dunlop) once and T23 (Maison Blanche by the Ford chicane) several times.

Same for me - no problems using any grandstand Ticketed for 15 but used same ticket for I think 3 on Sunday

It was printed on my ticket that it could be used for any grandstand after 8pm Saturday

yep that was written on all Grandstand tickets.

On that basis the OP should email the ACO so that they can brief their staff better

We had a similar problem, had ACO grandstand seats and when we tried to use the stand at the ford chicane on Sunday a chap tried to say no we could not, after a few words there were several others there also unhappy not being allowed in, the grandstand was sparsely filled at the time. After a few minutes we all just brushed the chap to one side and went and sat down. I also noticed that on sunday the numbers had fallen away and for the last few races there were hardly anyone sitting in the ACO stands

The most rediculous thing here is that most of the stands were empty most of the time. We had the same problem.
