Accessing other areas ?
Discussion
Hi All,
Been to LM for the 5 years and looking back this year there seemed to be restricted access.
On the Friday it was pretty open and spent most of the day on the Lanson champagne stand..... then come race day it was all blocked off with no access.
Are there passes available to any other areas around the 'lower areas' or is it corporate only ?
We usually have GA tickets and grandstand access on the finish straights.
Cheers in advance.....

And there is me thinking the Champagne bar was just a commercial stand, aka letting all people in, paying for some bubbly, and thus making a profit?
How wrong I was!
Or maybe I was indeed very wrong? Where was this 'lower areas' you speak of on this map?

it was sort of the AJ19 area on the map behind the main grandstand and down some steps.
We thought we'd stop by the Lanson stand for a swift pint ....... 6 hours later crawling from there with a whole carrier bag full of plastic cups..
Good time was had but we couldn't get anywhere near it on race day.

There are several area's which are "reserved" during the race but open on the friday, however what you are discribing is not the "champange bar" we all know which is at the top end of the pit straight, 6 hours there would have a severe effect on your cash flow as they do not serve beer only very expensive fizzy wine.
Sounds like the bar in the Hospitality Paddock - they had a Lanson bit outside last year. This is open before the race weekend but restricted during the race. A Pitwalk pass certainly gets you access to this and the Race Paddock and IIRC there are also passes for spensors/guests that give access to the Hospitality Paddock but not the Race Paddock (back of the garages).
