Ebay to ban re-sale of Sports Tickets

Not sure if this will effect the last minute sale of Le Mans spare tickets on Ebay. You might want to keep an eye on the situation if you are likely to buy or sell tickets in the last couple of months before Le Mans. Apparently Ebays sister site will sell them and take 25% of the value off you!!!

This may affect at least one Le Mans Tour operator who was trying to offload pitches late in the day last year.

Its a shame if it stops genuine fans getting rid of spares due to drop out tho.

Any company who uses ebay for commercial sales has to pay commercial rates therfore there is no change.

It is dissapointing that ebay wants to rip off genuine sellers of tickets but if no one uses their sister site then it wont work and it is illegal in France to sell tickets at over inflated prices, ACO have been keeping a very close watch on ticket sales over the last few years and have warned ebay about recent activities.

As all the major forums give members the opportuntity to sell and swap tickets maybe they will regret their decision.

I'd imagine selling camping pitches would escape the ban but entry/grandstand tickets could be caught - so expect to see lots of "Le Mans camping pitch £600 (includes free entry and grandstand tickets)".

I sold one camping ticket on ebay in about 2006, The ACO stopped me getting tickets from them, so they def share information.

We have all seen large quantities of camping tickets sold on e bay and many of those used to be from people ordering a large number of tickets with the sole aim of making a profit, however camping tickets on ebay in the last few years have never made that much and the GE tickets really made more that face value as there will never be a shortage, I could understand the ACO trying to clamp down on camping tickets but race tickets can always be purchased on the gate so no problem.

I too can understand, but its hard when you arrange things with your friends and then theres always one that drops out, well its happened to me twice 2006 and this year. All I want is to sell the ticket and get my money back, but i guess its the people that try and make money.

We should be allowed to sell them at face value, I dont see a problem. I dont know how many camping tickets you can buy from the ACO, i only bought 2 this year??

As well as the sticky thread here to get rid of tickets, Beermountain has one each year - on the Beermountain thread sellers are not permitted to sell for gain (other than to cover postage, from recollection).

I was going to buy a GE ticket for one of our lot last year, and when I got to the kiosk I bought one off a random chap who'd been let down by someone who couldn't make the trip. I paid (I think) 40 euros - cheaper than I could have bought one with my ACO membership). I was happy at saving some beer tokens, and the chap selling the ticket was grateful to get some dollar back.
