Hi, I've stayed at the Thomas Cook Sport Airtrack campsite for the last two years,the site is situated next to the ACO Houx site and is about 10 minutes walk to the pits.
This campsite has in my opinion the best facilities on offer at Le Mans,and ive stayed at a few, unfortunately they don't come cheap.
The campsite is surrounded by 8ft fencing and is patrolled by english security guards 24hrs a day.The pitches are all clearly marked out and theres plenty of trees providing ample shade,the showers and toilets are far better than any where else and are kept clean.
In the centre of the site is a large marque with wide screen tv and bar, on Friday and Saturday theres a live band. Catering is provided by a guy who was ex army catering the food is excellent,roast beef and yorkies on the sunday,thats if you want it, should you wish to cook your own thats no problem. Breakfast was £7 and evening meal £12 last year.
Great bunch of people really enjoyed staying there after years of carting fridges,BBQ's and trips to the hypermarket.Everthings onsite gives you far more time to enjoy the event its self.

Me and my Dad are Le Mans virgins and have a deal from Speedchills or Thomas Cook Sport to choose from, this might just sway it, thanks.
Both have good reviews and pretty much the same facilities so it came down to pitch size.
Air track is only 3x5m which is a bit small for a group of 3/4 so either a big tent or two smaller ones.
Speedchills has a 7x5m pitch so plenty room for a car and big tent or two small ones.
Both locations appealed but you have to walk or get the bus to other parts of the circuit wherever you camp so makes no odds really.
We're near the Porsche curves which has an enclosure and raised viewing area and also not too far from the arnage enclosure which you get into with general admission.
Went for the pitland grandstand to get the full start / finish experience and we'll just bumble around wherever else takes our fancy.
Can't wait now.

+/- 4.2 kms. Waypoint 5 in this route. And it is indeed tricky. Roads are rather tight, with a lot of traffic: cars, bikes and a few suicidal pedestrians. Better wear some Hi-Vis gear!
