Are the General Entry tickets available on the gates when you get there?

Can I ask if there is much difference in price between buying on the gate or ordering in advance from a tour operator?

Am also presuming they can't "sell out"

They'll never sell out, it's just whether you want them in your hand before you go so it's one less thing to worry about.

Any of the tour operators / agents are understandably going to charge a premium or wrap them in a bundle with camping or tribune seats.

Keep an eye on the sale section here and the other LM forums nearer the time. There's generally plenty available due to last minute drop outs. I, along with many others I suspect, will have a couple of Tribune and Entrance tickets to sell at cost nearer the time which I'll post up here.

GA Tickets are always for sale at the gate, no limit of capacity as the circuit is massive, there is no discount for buying early like there is at Silverstone and as already said the agencies always charge a mark up plus delivery. The only discounts you can get are if you join the ACO. the discount on the 6 tickets you can buy almost covers the cost of ACO membership and the other benefits are then free

GE ticket price direct from the ACO for 2013 is €54, say £45. I assume they will be the same price at the gate on the day. According to the brochure of one of the best known ticket agencies they are charging £75 for a GE ticket.

It's the same(or worse!) with the tribune tickets. ACO price for their own tribune is €100 (say £84) whereas the same agency price, including ticket service charge(!)is £186.

Where did you get 54 from? ACO website sells them for 71. I'm not an ACO member now so can't tell what a member's price is but for most people it'll be what's on their website won't it? And same price on the door I imagine.

As per my invoice from ACO: €54 each. Probably the ACO member's price though.

Yep 54 is the members price so 17 euro discount per ticket so if your group is 6 people it is worth one person joining
