Presumably there will be multiple battery 'packs' that are swapped during pitstops?!
Should be interesting and allegedly will be the beginning of a programme to return to LMP1.

Luckily that already exists, all the way down under:

I hope it fails on the first lap. Le Mans 24 Hrs is not about being green or using the event to benefit their road cars.
What next ? Solar powered race cars ?
Not to benefit their road cars? Which is precisely what Audi has been doing for the past 15 years...What next ? Solar powered race cars ?
Unfortunately manufacturers need to appeal to their board, in order to generate the funds to go racing. If they can sell it on the back of
improved sales, then so be it.
I think it's great that Nissan, together with Nismo are making a return to Le Mans. I'll reserve judgement until we see some more detail of
the project. I've got to admit that on the face of it, it doesn't sound that exciting, but given Nissan and Nismo's commitment tp the 24 hours
over the years I think it will be a good thing when it finally takes to the circuit.

I agree. Simple fact is within our kids lifetime, if not our own, there will be no oil left. Something has to drive progress and G 56 is a small way the ACO are looking to the future. I think it should be welcomed. Looking forward to seeing the fuel cell thing this year as well.TimJMS said:
Wrong on all points.
Good point and well presented, well argued.I personally don't want to see this sort of thing at Le Mans. I don't know anyone who does. It shouldn't be for testing ideas for road cars, its a race not and economy trial. An electric car at Le Mans ? what's the point ? Have a separate race somewhere else.

Can we strap a load of big magnets to the ARMCO and pull the bloody thing off the track
Yea I know its progress, But I like living in the past glory days, Bring back the old Village to instead of all the Audi Corporate stuff
Thank god. i thought I was the only one here. I liked windows 7, Group C, the 6R4 James Hunt and the great smell of Brut. I like racing cars to be noisy, fuel Inefficient and look like a racing car not like the frigging Deltawing or sound like an electric shaver. Progress is not always good.

I really don't mind to be honest. I think having a novelty entry is quite good, I mean how many people looked forward to seeing the Deltawing last year just to see what it was like and if it could corner? I did, for sure, then got on with enjoying the other 55 cars battling it out.
And come on, in garage 56 there's been:
daft shaped car with small engine
hydrogen thing this year
electric doofer next year
So come 2015, what will there be? Rocket Sled, Top Gear rep mobile, V8 Segway, Chuckle Brother pedal power. It all adds to the race even if it's a mobile chicane to avoid.
