Two seasoned Le Mans visitors hoping to travel by bike for the first time this year. Plan is to check the weather forecast on the Monday, get on the cheap ferry on Friday night and do the whole thing without taking any time off work. Can't be that hard can it?

Wondering if there's anyone from Somerset who would be willing to take a few bits and bobs for us in their car in return for a beer token. Also a place to put helmets while we're there etc etc...

Any advice from other bikers much appreciated!

hi.
We did it on bike in 2009 ,
the biggest issue was beer /food and we coulnt carry much. so youl need to visit the carfour saturday morning, which woulnt be easy due to the road closuers.
When are you leaving not sunday ?
it was a hard trip when we did it 140 miles in a storm however it was a once in a lifetime trip, we camped by the track in kartig nord,
but cars the way to do it for me.

Thanks for the tips. We won't be staying long (only there for the race) so massive shopping trip for 50 baguettes won't be required. If there's any threat of rain like your trip then it's off!

Main reasons for wanting to go by bike:

- We like a challenge!
- Done it by car loads of times
- Can't take any time off work this year
- Bike should be easier to book onto a ferry at late notice
- We can cut through all the traffic jams and park really close
- Want to see what my exhaust sounds like through the tunnel at Rouen

Down sides:

- We will stink

Cheers,
Jim

thanks for the offer - might get in touch closer to the time. Houx is where we've always gone before.

Same situation as taylor172 but secure storage offered on Maison Blanche if you need it.

Good luck.
