For a LeMans novice is there a place (web site) that gives an idea of what happens in and around the circuit/town over the race weekend.

It would be nice to go armed with more info than I currently have (sod all)!!!

CLUBARNAGE.COM

Download the guide.
Listen to Radio Le Mans 91.2FM

Hope this helps.

Note - The 2013 guide still needs a couple of updates - should be done in the next couple of weeks. But the 2012 guide should get you going for now.

Also have a look at Beermountain.com

Both Club Arnage and BeerMountain are good sites. Also take a look here: http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1...

But don't try to do everything and to watch everything. Le Mans is a very big circuit and it's impossible to do it all at once. Just do several things this year, and a few other the next. (yes you'll be back)

Storer what day are you arriving, plenty happens in the week before the race, and on friday plenty of things to do like the Classic British Welcome, and the pit walk.

The official website is much better than it used to be for showing times and events:

Thanks for those sites. I will check them out.

Arrive late Wednesday so should have a bit of time to see a few things.

It may seem you have a lot of time because you are arriving Wednesday, but you really won't. Time to prioritise what you want to do.

take care on wednesday evening there is a tendency to overdo it a little and then Thursday ends up starting rather late, Suggest that you take things as they happen but plan for friday to do the CBW, the pit walk and the Parade

CBW = Classic British Welcome in the village of Saint Saturnin. Indeed a recommendation!

Unfortunately I think it is unlikely that Stephen is making his guide this year.... taking his A levels and working for Dailysportscar.com - so you will need to get your background race info elsewhere...

I am planning to put my own spotters guide up on this site once we are back from Spa WEC and the Nurburgring 24 stunden...

Looking at the program, I like the idea of the passenger rides, but they are damn expensive, especially on the Saturday.

It would be a great experience though so close to the race start.

Maybe another year.

It isn't very clear either whether that buys you just 1 lap or you'd be taken around a couple of times.

1 lap. It is clear to me.

I'm debating it. smile

I did the fast lap last year in the prototype on the Wednesday & all I can say is Go for it!

It is a brilliant experience & you hit around 245km/hr (in the prototype) down Indianapolis, the drivers don't hang around.

It is a bit pricey, but actually cheaper than last year & they feed you canapes & champagne
