Sorry to sound a bit negative but it could just ruin your weekend.

Just a reminder that last year on the Houx at least, there were a number of thefts. Many had their tents slashed open and items taken including some keys for a Noble. I don't know if there will be any extra security or cops about - probably not - so it's worth mentioning to keep your eyes open between beers...........

It has been going on for years as I know from going since 2002
normally left any thing of value in a locked car with one of group holding the key (normally a non piss head lol)

Sound advice, I foolishly left a phone on charge in the tent which was pinched, but the thieves didn't pinch the 12v battery pack that was worth more than the phone. keep all your valuables locked away in your car

And don't think your hiding your valuables at the bottom of your sleeping bag, that's where everyone hides them!

Yes happened a few times to our party as well, one of our lot had thier wallet nicked from thier tent while they was asleep in the tent last year in Houx we had chairs nicked not good

Great. This is our first year in Houx.......so we'll probably get hit hardest, based solely on Sods Law.

How does the law stand in France if we catch someone in one of our tents, on the rob? Can we "apply reasonable force"?

That seems to be the order of the day I have to say ive stayed on houx for 5 years now and never had anything at all stolen. Even having a domestic fridge full of beers, not even one beer has ever been stolen

If you leave the body in the sleeping bag and remove all signs it was yours then just leave it there when you leave, the refuse men will collect it on monday

Same here with us. Houx last four years and Karting Nord Technoparc Beausejour previous with no trouble. Last year though, one of our group and quite a few round us got hit.

I remember a thread a year or two ago where someone caught a little nicking their stuff. They did not beat him up or report him to the Plod. They stripped him naked and let him go.

Strip him naked is a good idea. Even better is to then just drop him in a wheelie bin and secure the lid with the odd bit of rope or chain.Seen this happen in Houx one year.

They "manouches", as we call them here, are up to every trick in the book, so while above it is advised not to leave your valuables in your sleeping bag it is advisable to put everything of value in there before you climb in to sleep so they have no access during the night. A locked car is another place of course, but after a skinful just sling your jeans into the bag and that's that. Some years back two were caught at 4am stealing from tents behind the bar outside the circuit and were treated, shall we say, roughly. They tried to complain about assault to the police but the police made it clear that in their book they had fallen over trying to escape. They have no sympathy for them at all.

Last year there was a little bit of rough and tumble with some plain closed rozzers and 2 guys near the cash machine in the LM village, they were giving them a couple of good slaps. I think they could have been pick pockets targeting pissed up spectators.

We had a few bits taken, opportunistically, a number of years ago in camping bleu.

Thankfully nothing of any real value.

As others have said keep anything valuable hidden and ideally locked away out of sight.
