Off circuit camping

Hi all
Been Le Mans twice already, on both occasions it was during our holidays when there was no racing on.
Taking my 15 yr old son to the 24 Hrs for the first time next month, and have booked us into quite a rural part of Sille Le Guillaume, which is 25 miles NW of Le Mans.
Just wondered if anyone has any hints or tips please regarding the best time to arrive for Friday ticket collection at the track to avoid queuing, and also advice sought on best time to arrive at the track Saturday for the start of the race?
I intentionally booked us a campsite so far away so when we go back to the campsite we are aware from the noise and bustle.
We arrive Dieppe at 4am Friday 21st and depart Dieppe homeward at 6pm Monday 24th

have a look on the site to see what is on when and give yourself about an hour to allow for any delays due to traffic!
I also stay off circuit for the same reason! Done my years on Houx but now like to see as much racing as I can!
It also is a good idea to know all the rat runs and best places to park for free!
It is a huge learning curve! Ive taken people who have not been before and they have come back this year due to where I take them and that helps learning what is worth doing!

I have booked us parking at Rouge and was debating whether to get Mulsanne/Arnage parking too.
I have read some horror stories about spending hours in jams getting in and out of the circuit and would sooner be there early and wait than get stuck up in something

Don't buy seperate parking for mulsanne! You should (depending on when you go - I've never had a problem Sunday am) be able to get in on your red ticket. That said its not too bad to park just outside of the woods and walk in.
Re picking up your tickets - earlier's always better to avoid the crowds. If you're in to Dieppe at 4am trundle down, grab breakfast, get your tickets and then take your boy in to the pitlane!

Been going on and off since 1999 and picking up this year fully expecting an Audi win but WTF - its Le Mans.
I've always found street / pavement parking space at Mulsanne, just down from La Boule D'Or and walked down to watch the race. Then use the shuttle to get up to the circuit and back again.
I have never needed a parking ticket for Arnage which is my other preferred viewing spot, you just have to get there when there is space. Sometimes I'm waved on cos they are full but more often than not managed to park up. Consequently, just go to the Parc d'Expositions when I arrive and join the queue for a general admission ticket only. That's usually painless and you can park outside.
The Mulsanne spot is doubly handy at the end of the race cos you are at the front of the queue of all traffic leaving and heading south towards Tours.
Always camped off-track at the Municipal in Ecommoy. At one time, I might have been black-balled for telling others about the site years ago, but it is now a handy stop off for the race weekend and there has been plenty of space for a small car and tent to turn up. It was really busy 10 years ago but more recently never had to pre-book as the economy imploded and less people went to the race, and it remains civilised with the same regulars going year on year.
