Le Mans Aston Martin Owners Club
Discussion
As part of the Le Mans 24 hrs weekend, the AMOC returns to the Hotel de France at La Chartre sur le Loir on Friday 21st June. This is the hotel that John Wyer used for the Aston Martin team base in the 1950's, and is situated a pleasant 30-40 min drive south of the circuit going towards Tours. Memorabilia from those years is all around the hotel, including the years after he left AML and went on to run the GT40 Programme for Ford, the GULF Porsche team and the Mirage team that won in 1975 with Ickx and Bell at the wheel.
You are welcome to come and join us for a Champagne luncheon (from 12 noon to 3pm)and view some historic Astons in their 1950's surroundings. David Richards, Chairman of Aston Martin and Prodrive, has very kindly agreed to come along again and give a speech in the companies Centenary year, not only reflecting upon 100 years of AM history, but also what will be in store for the weekend too. We will also be joined by Mike Salmon, Maitland Cook (who worked for JW), Noel Pasteau (who owned the hotel during JW's time there) and several other directors of AML.
The Town Square will be closed for Aston Martin parking only - so this event should especially appeal to the Aston PistonHeads, as there are a limited number of tickets available to non amoc members at £59, which can be bought through Anne Wright at the Club HQ on 01865 891 838 or on events@amoc.org. The event will be very much along the lines of the one we held in 2009 and 2011, with a Champagne reception and Canapés luncheon in a very relaxed atmosphere, and hopefully some very famous faces too.
Dave............ please come and introduce yourself to me (I'll probably be handing out the lanyards/tickets). I'm actually also travelling down with another Dave Jones, and then meeting up with my great friend Brian Joscelyne, who must know your father!?
I actually received an e-mail from Tim Parnell today............ but sadly he can't make it, however it should still be a great day and we will have an ex-works DB3 there as well as a few other unique Astons....
All the best,
David
Hi to another David!!
It's an all ticket affair I'm afraid as the numbers are limited to 150.......... there are still some left ........ but I suspect they will all be gone by the end of next week. I don't think Anne is in today at the Club, but she'll be back next week so you can always send an e-mail or leave a message.
All the best,
David
